Current Projects and Updates

If you follow me on Instagram you will find snippets of what I am up to.  If you aren’t why not? @cindyhattersley.  Last week they came and photographed our home for a local magazine.  I will let you know where you can find it, once it is published you are local.

I am working on a dining room for a young couple with a home that has fabulous bones.  Here is my inspiration board.

OB-CL Dining #1 (1)_edited

We ended up painting the room BM Edgecomb Gray.  The trim is on it’s way to becoming Benjamin Moore Simply White. Here is a sneak peek.  Does this house have incredible mouldings and doors or what?  This is all original! And the builtins?  Count em Four!! They don’t build houses like this anymore. I am sure you know how excited I am to be working on this one.

We have made some selections on the carmel valley project that you read about here

The star of the existing house (they will tell you there aren’t many) is the beautiful lot. They are literally nestled in the trees. We call it the Tree House. This is what the view looks like from every angle all around the house.

This  fabulous existing fireplace was laid in a most intricate pattern and the limestone is full of fossils which makes it really interesting.

Note the glue spots on the walls…yep it was paneled. That hideous hearth is going and will be replaced with a similar fossily slab with a chiseled edge.  The ceilings will be whitewashed.

We selected this fabulous quartzite slab for the counters and backsplash, but we are not sure if it is in the budget according to our ‘budget minded contractor’.

We will be using some reclaimed wood on the range hood and the front of the island.  Here is a shot of the rangehood roughed in.

The kitchen is in the center of the main floor plan.  One side (the fireplace side) is for the family area.  The other side is an open floor plan with a living and dining space. We selected two of these lights for over the large rectangular dining table.

Last week I went back and did a little work for a former client.  We freshened up her entry with pretty perennials fabrics and started working on her bookcases. She has great style and a really good design sense.  She doesn’t need too much guidance from me but we compliment one another. You will see more of that project later.  Here is a sneak peek of that.

Note she had one of those giant upholstered ottomans that aren’t good for much of anything except resting your feet.  We recovered it in Perennials Oh Suzannah Grey Hills https://www.perennialsfabrics.com/fabrics/colors/grey/oh-susanna-grey-hills/.  We added this fabulous Happao Oversized Tray from Williams Sonoma Home which really made the ottoman more functional.  I will do a full post on this house soon I promise! On Monday I am switching to WordPress (yikes!!) Maryann has had a few issues and she is way more techy than me so look for problems!  Thanks for hanging in here with me.  You guys are the best!!

Cindy the last time I popped over here I think your new design was in the midst of being installed. I love how it all came out, so beautiful! And I always enjoy seeing your projects and the homes you are working on. You are so talented!

I’m a little late to comment but wanted to chime in to compliment you on some wonderful design work. I hope that quartzite ends up working into the budget, as it’s beautiful. By the way, I’ve been using WORDPRESS from day 1 so if you are ever in a bind I might be able to answer some questions. There is a learning curve, and in fact, I’m still learning. Best wishes!

Cindy, Looks beautiful! i love your style. I am remodeling and would love to build a fireplace like this. I wish your husband could build my house. Getting a contractor here is really difficult.

Your site looks beautiful! So very you. I want to do this, I am scared the WP will be hard to manage, but I’m sure will be worth it. Both yours and Mary Ann’s is gorgeous.

As for wordpress, I would love to hear your expeieence. Did you have your blog migrated, how do you like wordpress? And if I can ask who is hosting your blog? Thanks for the help. I have contemplated a move for years but I am dragging my feet because I do not feel like learning something new.

Looking soooo good! I can't wait to see the kitchen hood. You crack me up calling me techy! Where are the tractor seat bar stools from? Have you gotten the tractor seat stools yet? I have a question for you.
