We have been visiting Santa Barbara for years. When our kids were still home, it was our annual Spring Break trip. More recently Steve and I have enjoyed the Santa Barbara County wine areas as well. We love the weather, the food, the creativity, and the overall vibe. We stopped on our way back from the Wedding Celebration last weekend and weren’t disappointed. Let’s take a look at the Collected Style Edit-Santa Barbara.
The tiny hamlet of Summerland has always been a great stop for antiques and vintage. In recent years, it has added another layer of interest, several home decor, and garden shops. We were instantly transfixed with Shane Brown’s (Big Daddy’s Antiques) latest venture the Well. You can read more about Big Daddy’s here SHANE “BIG DADDY BROWN” THE MAN BEHIND THE EMPIRE-MONTECITO JOURNAL and here BIG DADDY’S ANTIQUES You also follow the Well on Instagram here.
Shane has painstakingly restored the former grounds to home decor and garden lovers Eden, Steve and I found a lot of inspiration for our own backyard garden. Our heads have been spinning since we left.
Love the small tables made from reclaimed stone and iron. Steve was dying to bring one home.
Steve and I both thought we could take this green house right home with us!
Great root console table and large-scale art!
Tons of beautiful pots and fountains made from old European animal watering tanks.
Love the hanging pendant!!
Loving the blue stoneware bowls, so pretty.
Another favorite shop in Summerland is Botanik. You can follow them on Instagram here. I found some pretty napkin rings and napkins that I brought home.
They always have a wonderful selection of outdoor plants as well.
The last time I was in the area Porch was in Carpinteria I believe. Now all of these wonderful shops are within walking distance of each other.
One more home decor shop that I never miss is the fabulous Rooms and Gardens in downtown Santa Barbara.
You can follow them on Instagram here.
We had a wonderful four days away. It would take me days to include all of the fabulous food, wine, and fun we had. I am sorry I got this out late today. Thanks for reading the Collected Style Edit-Santa Barbara. Have a great week. I will be back on Thursday joining the Contessa for Ageless Style.

We are in Santa Maria for the weekend for a family wedding and I wish we had time to browse these lovely shops.

Oh Mary I wish you did too!!

Wonderful post. These are some of my favorite places. I lived in Carpenteria when I was about 5-7 years old and even at that age I loved the drive into SB, past Montecito, Summerland and the now gone (heartbreaking), Santa’s Village. I try to go back down that way every year or two. It is truly one of the best spots on earth.

Thanks so much for the tour, amazing shops, it’s so wonderful that your husband share same interests as yours Mine would get bored to death. And that’s one of the reasons I never get to visit nice home stores in our trips. In fact, I have no family nor friends, who share my interest in home decor. My son, patiently awaits for me, but they can’t quite understand what’s so nice about furniture …
Cindy Hattersley says
Oh Liana
Next time Mary Ann and I will have to meet you at Rogers Gardens! My husband does not care for any shopping that doesn’t involve antiques of some sort!

Hi Cindy,
This is all so lovely and so much to be inspired by. I grew up in that area but haven’t been back since my parents died 14 years ago. Too many memories I guess.
Might be time to try again.
Glad you two had a nice time!
XO Heidi

Cindy,
I want to jump in my car and drive up to Summerland and Santa Barbara right now! I’ve been to a couple of these places but I think it’s time to revisit them. I can see why your heads were spinning and I can also see many of these wonderful things in your home and garden. How I would love a home that looks just like these beautiful stores.
Mary from Life at Bella Terra says
Cindy, thanks for the great resource in Santa Barbara! It’s been a while since I visited there but now, due to this blog post, I’m inspired to return. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info! I will hopefully be in Santa Barbara and Half Moon Bay next July. Nice to know some fun places to go.

You hit all my favorite stomps on our annual trip to Santa Barbara! I was so relaxed when my husband and I walked the Well. So beautiful, and yes, that garden room was something else! Loved the charming old house they decorated, I could live there in a moment’s notice. Got some goodies at the Porch, and of course, Rooms and Gardens is my annual must stop on State street! I never walk away empty handed…thanks for the memories!

Hi Cindy,
Thank you for this. My girlfriends and I have been thinking we’d like to take a road trip to Santa Barbara. I’ll be sharing this list with them during our next planning session.

Did you perhaps stay at the Inn in Summerhill? It’s on this Ohio girl’s list of favorite places. We had such a lovely time there and in SB.
Wren says
Headed to SB tomorrow! Rooms and Gardens always on my list. Need to go just a bit further to Summerland now that it has come into it’s own.
Nice that after your move and remodel effort, you are having some fun get-away times.
