Berries and Branches Holiday Home Tour

Every year I participate in a local Holiday Tour that benefits the local hospital.  This year the proceeds from the tour will provide Phototherapy Equipment and Radiant Warmers for the Neo-natal and Pediatric Care Units.  In years past I have decorated a room or a tree but this year one of my clients’ homes was selected. I had been working with her for the last year on her home.  She does wonderful floral design and has amazing taste so we decided that the two of us along with an amazingly creative group of helpers would do it ourselves.  We had two days before it was photographed for a local magazine so we couldn’t have completed it without our amazing team!     image My client had the lovely sofa’s and chairs and the art. We added new pillows, curtains, shades, the Restoration Hardware chair, the bench, and the side table from Crate and Barrel. I posted about it here http://roughluxeperspective.blogspot.com/2012/05/cheap-chic-side-tables-under-230.html My client knows what she likes and is not afraid to mix the high and low. She has some beautiful family pieces that we incorporated into the design. image photo via Catherine Goldman   image photo via catherine goldman The living room tree was decorated with my mercury glass ornaments and we added some pine cone ornaments from Walmart (yep you heard me right!) and some others borrowed from another creative friend!   image     image   The former fireplace was dated and uninteresting.  Hattersley Construction redid the fireplace working with the original ….and added the stone surround and mantle. image   The mantle is decorated with magnolia, spruce, and fresh apples image I found these fabulous shutters at Crawford’s Warehouse in Santa Cruz.  We added the sconces from Arteriors (The Lisa Luby Ryan Collection).  My client had the great tassels.    image Another member of our magnificent team created this vignette in my clients cupboard image photo via catherine goldman We purchased all new furnishings for the kitchen family room area this past year.  My client kept the existing cabinetry.  Fortunately she had the design sense years ago to not paint them or stain them a horrible color.  Hence they remain fairly current. On the fireplace my faux bois pots filled with mini cypress, more greens, pinecones, and sticks!   imageimage   Stockings on the fireplace were made by Katie Baker.  We added vintage brooches and buttons for interest.       image  The kitchen table was decorated with my client’s dishes from a local artisan, horn napkin rings from World Market, and Pottery Barn Chargers.    image  A shot of the kitchen island with pottery Barn Lanterns and my Belsnickel Collection.   The dining room had a land and sea theme.  We incorporated shells, antlers, fresh greens and and added a little sparkle! image The Cloche with my vintage sheep is from World Market.  We added Rosemary Topiaries and Mercury Glass Candlesticks form Pottery Barn.  The Mercury Glass Bottles on the Console are from World Market.  image We set the table with my clients wonderful family silver, linens and glass,  and added my daughter in law’s Arte Italia Dinnerware.  The pewter chargers are from Williams Sonoma image       image I made tiny wreaths out of grapevine, greens and mini pinecones to mark each seat image   image This vignette was designed by members of our team.  Isn’t it great?!!   The upstairs office housed an out of date sofa.  We had our fabulous upholsterer Fred (Ace Upholstery) recover it in this  fabulous Malabar Stripe.  We had him make the back pillows larger and added the bolster pillows  at each arm to heighten and beef up the dated sofa.  My client also had the darling  little upholstered chairs that we recovered.  She found the fabulous “shutters”, and the vintage golf photos, and we replaced the old carpet with seagrass. The tables are from World Market. image image The office tree was decorated with these wonderful balls that my client found at Beverly’s, twig reindeer, red berries and nests with quail eggs. image   image   image photo via catherine goldman Our team wrapped all of the lovely packages and added all of the finishing touches around the house.   image photo via catherine goldman In my client’s beautiful master bathroom the lone decoration was this crazy lady I came up with. image image  Rain was forecast for the tour so we kept the outside decor to a minimum   image image   I hope you enjoyed the tour.  In my next post I will post some pictures of one of the other homes on the tour.  Many thanks to our amazing team of creative volunteers Deirdre, Jill, Pat, Judy, Kathy & Lauren.  You made our work easy!!

Cindy, This is absolutely gorgeous as well as cozy. I love how you decorated with almost all natural elements! Very inspiring. Wish you could come to my home! I don't know where this is at, but the view is so amazing. They are very fortunate.

    Love it all!

I have been reading your blog (in secret) for awhile. You are so talented. I love what you have done to embellish this home. It is so beautiful but simple.

Oh, Cindy, where to begin? First, I have to say, having had a preemie who spent six weeks in a neo-natal intensive care unit in Florida where we were vacationing when she was born, I love this charity. On to the house and decorating…you are a genius. I love the color palette you have worked with, there are so many elements I would use (the shutters, the Arteriors sconce, I have the same PB lanterns and I see antlers) and you slayed me with the fur blanket on the outdoor chaises. I have to take a deep breath now.
    xoxo,
    Phyllis

Oh my gosh, you all went all out!! But in a very sophisticated and organic holiday style. I love what you did on top of the lantern in the dining room. Also, I love the scale of the pair of faux bois pots w/ the mini cypress trees. Divine.
    Cindy, have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!
    Very best,
    Loi
