Trad Home Napa Valley Show House Tour

This is the third year that my friend Pat and I have attended the Trad Home Napa Valley Showhouse Tour.  We travelled without our good friend Roxanne as she was recuperating from surgery. Lucky for us we were joined by my friend Maryann (Classic Casual Home).  You can check out her post here http://www.classiccasualhome.com/ for her favorites.

Our home away from home while staying in Napa was the Napa River Inn. We have stayed there many times, and love it for it’s charm, great location and impeccable service.

On top of that Celadon (one of Napa’s finest) is located in the same complex as well as Angel. Sweetie Pies bakery, also located on the premises and another Napa favorite, provides the delicious breakfast in bed that is complimentary with your stay.

We have stayed in many places in the Napa Valley and the Napa River Inn always remains a favorite. And did I mention they are pet friendly?

You know Beau is not always welcome everywhere…

Okay on to the actual tour.
I have to be honest  Pat and I did not feel like this years compared to the previous years.  Last years tour required three posts it was so well done.  We missed the 2013 tour here for some reason..The 2012 tour held at the beautiful Cardinale Winery was wonderful as well
That being said,I liked the idea that they chose downtown Napa. It has undergone a bit of a renaissance in the last few years.  There are so many  wonderful old homes on beautiful tree lined streets.  This year there were two houses and one room at the darling Inn on Randolph Street featured.
Let’s begin with the 1880’s bungalow owned by a young Napa couple. As with all show houses there was something for everyone. I am going to highlight the rooms that were of particular interest to us. Circa Lighting and Pratt and Lambert paints were two of the main sponsors of the event.  Circa Lighting has more on all of the rooms and what fixtures were used where on their blog here

This charming bath embraced the style of the home and was done by Lisa Mende. We all loved it

I know it sounds strange to pick the hallway as one of my favorites. Bryan Tapper proved that sometimes less is more. I love it when a designer embraces the architecture of the dwelling. Instead of trying to bastardize the original design of the home Bryan repeated the wainscoting original to the house, and let the wonderful Circa Pendant Lights, and paint update and punctuate the space.

Check out the simple clever design of the mudroom also by Bryan.  Again no shouting necessary, he let the space speak for itself with a few clever additions.

Another favorite was the little jewel box powder room that Kriste Michelini designed.  Her creative use of this small space proves details matter.

The showstopper in this house was the fabulous kitchen. Although we couldn’t go in (they were redoing the floors #whydidn’ttheyfixthembefore), and many pieces were missing, we loved the space designed by the Kitchen Design Network. Loved the Circa Sconces above the sink and the fabulous ceiling by Decorator’s Supply.

Again I know you have heard this from me way too many times, but I loved that they made the kitchen current while respecting the integrity of the home.

Loved the floor from Veranda Tile Design . I think this kitchen particularly appealed to me because it is an updated version of my own kitchen if I were to start from scratch.

They covered every detail.  The shelves were beautifully styled and the countertops looked as if you might even be able to use them.

Out of order but next up Kim Scodro converted the former spa at the charming Inn on Randolph into a tranquil guest suite. The Circa Darlana Lantern (a favorite of mine) and the gorgeous bedding accentuated the space.

Tomorrow I will be back to highlight my favorite rooms from the house on 375 Randolph and our shopping adventures in the Valley.
Over the weekend the horrific events in Paris stopped us all in our tracks. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the fallen and injured.

I remembered the reason we found the Napa Inn in the first place was because Beau was a puppy and we did not have very many options!!
