The Stylish Digs of Kim from NorCal Style

I am so happy to feature my friend Kim’s (NorCal Style) California home today.  Kim and I met through blogging and the first time I saw her home I was “gobsmacked” as my friend Debra would say.  Kim remodeled a simple ranch-style home and gave it her modern chic stamp.  I am absolutely amazed at what she accomplished.  Grab a cup of coffee, you are going to love the Stylish Digs of Kim from NorCal Style.

Here is the oh so nor cal chic Kim on her front patio.  I love the water-wise landscaping they did in their front yard.

I love Kim’s front door (especially the color) similar to mine.  The door gives you a peek to what lies beyond. Don’t you love the doormat?

Here is the charming entry that greets you. And you know what they are awesome! Love the Serena and Lily bench and the white mirror. Kim has used many of Serena and Lilly’s casual coastal details in her design.

When they remodeled Kim opened up the entire space creating a seamless living area.  On the left when you walk in is her gorgeous dining room. Maybe my favorite room in the house!

She has this beautiful built-in with antiqued mirrored tiles (genius) at the end of the dining area, which creates a dreamy place to dine day or night. I bet it has a gorgeous glow at night.

Also on the left past the dining room is this gorgeous kitchen.  Love the bleached open shelving, the range tile and the Serena and Lily barstools add texture to the cold surfaces. Love every detail!!

Entering the front door is Kim’s uber-chic living space.

Love, love, love the gallery wall with the modern art and textural baskets.

Down the hall to the right is the bedroom/office wing. This is the swoon-worthy master bath.  Love how she carried the same oak cabinetry and shelving in the bath for continuity.  I love this anywhere but especially in a smaller home.  The continuity of surfaces and details create a more seamless space.

The tub area….love!!

The boys bath she added matte black fixtures for variety, but continued the cabinetry.  Note the pendant lighting similar to the kitchen.  Again creating a seamless space.

Since I have gone crazy with pictures, we will move on to the pool bath/laundry area off the kitchen.  I don’t think I have ever seen a more stylishly designed practical space.

Love so many of the details. Love the addition of the bamboo mirror for texture.

No space was left to chance.

Can you please tell me where the white lamp came from….it is in the picture that features a table, photo of an agave and your boots, thanks

    • kim says

HI Chris, The lamp is an older Ethan Allen lamp. I can no longer find it on their site- or on the internet! So sorry. Kim

I can’t get enough of Kim’s home! Every last corner is so thoughtfully done without being over done. The casual, coastal tone is incredibly serene. If this were my home I’d never leave … what a comforting and cozy atmosphere to ride out a pandemic. Her front patio area is such a clever design idea … and I’m sure well used this past year. I love the idea of enjoying coffee or wine while chatting with passing neighbors (from a safe distance!). Thanks for sharing Kim’s beautiful home. I think of her … and her home … as the ultimate in California casual chic. xo

I am in love with Kim’s home . It’s beach casual but sophisticated. Well done!

  7. Patti says

What a lovely home! Is that a Leanne Ford sofa? I’m on the fence about ordering one…

    • kim says

Hi Patti Thank you so much. The sofa is the Cloud sofa from Restoration Hardware. I bought the one with the poly/down mix and the medium depth and size. The all down versions end up looking like roadkill and to be honest, even this one requires some fluffing cushions and all that to stay nice. The slipcovers are easy though. Hope that helps! x Kim

    Hi Cindy
I love Kim’s home, and I love Kim! I feel so lucky to have been introduced to her at your lovely home for our Contessa’s birthday, and we’ve become fast friends. But due to COVID, I haven’t had the pleasure of scoping our her house in person! These photos are stunning, her place is just wonderful. I love how calm and peaceful it seems. Also, she used a very neutral palette, but it doesn’t feel sterile, and has its’ own character. It’s unique to her and her family, and it still retains a bit of the original charm of the original house. I love that. It’s very similar to the way Kim dresses: quality, hip and laid back, and very chic!
Thanks for the tour! Hope you are doing well!
    XO Heidi

Love this house. I’m especially taken with the beautiful windows you selected. Fabulous. I’d have them open all the time! I’m a California native who wasn’t paying attention one day and wound up in Arizona. Oops. Congratulations on your beautiful CA home.

Hi Susan thank you ! Love my windows and they help bring a lot of light in. They are Marvin brand. Hope you’re enjoying Arizona. I think it’s gorgeous there too! xo

Kim knocked it out of the park. Her home has so much character which makes it timeless in my book. Beautiful flow and continuity in style, textures and colors. She really thought her designs out beautifully. Kudos to Kim👏🏻

    Hi Cindy,
Oh wow, Kim truly has an amazing home, beautifully done, she used her space so well. Your style is so similar, you are both
gifted and talented in what you do.
Can you find out from Kim where she purchased the fun front door mat, “COME IN WE’RE AWESOME,” I have seen some on
line, but nothing like hers. Thanking you in advance.

    • kim says

Hi Katherine Ann, The doormat is from a shop in Carmel called Beachwood Home. I don’t know if you are in the Bay Area, but it’s in Carmel Plaza. They may have them made, but I’m sure they can ship them. Really nice people! Thank you for the nice note! x Kim
Here is a link to the shop http://beachwoodhome.com

  12. Pam says

It’s gorgeous, but how does she get the black cat hair off all that white furniture? (Asking for a friend….)

    • kim says

Pam I am cracking up – so true! I use a regular cat hairbrush with polyester bristles. It works great. Any brush like that ! Also just got her some kind of cat taco.. Seems to be preferring it! x Kim
