Ten Rough Luxe Styled Consoles You Can Copy

I love styling a console.  They are one of the most versatile pieces of furniture a designer has to work with. I am particularly drawn to those that utilize items from nature, vintage objects, and interesting art. Here are ten of my favorite rough luxe styled consoles that you can copy.

This console has all of the elements that I love, something natural, something vintage, interesting art, and a great mirror.

This piece is not technically a console but probably some vintage piece from a store. I love the modern art mixed with the ethnic accents and the vintage store piece.

This antique piece acts as a console. Love the vintage accessories and the vintage art.

I am always in awe of Lauren Liess’ styling.  Here it is minimal, organic, and to the point.

I love the artful display and unabashed use of color on this console by Anna Spiro.

This image is an older one from Atlanta Homes and Lifestyle but still stops me in my tracks.

This sculptural console from bocadelobo complemented by the modern art piece would be a showstopper anywhere.

Creative display modern mixed with vintage…a winning combination…

This console is a dovetail piece from my Carmel Valley Project.  We tried to use a mix of modern and texture to create a pleasing entry.

Do you have a console piece that you have trouble working with or that you love how it is styled? Do you enjoy the Rough Luxe Styled look or do you prefer something a little more refined?  I would love to hear about it. If you would like more inspiration check out my Consoles Pinterest Board.  If you aren’t following me on Pinterest I would love it if you would.  Follow along here.

Next week is a busy one on the blog.  Stop by on Monday for an over 50 fashion post.  Tuesday I will show you how to use those beautiful Christmas Ornaments year round.  On Thursday Mary Ann (Classic Casual Home), Annie (Most Lovely Things) and I will be back with three other bloggers for some great ideas for simple party trays.

I actually saw that one with the root console at the showhouse and it was indeed a showstopper! Some great examples here of organic looks that I love:)

I love consoles because of their flexibility. In the remodel of my kitchen/dining room, the dining room became a library/dining room. Windows in this room were removed and replaced with a fixed glass unit making the garden beyond “the art”. Originally I had planned to reuse the former console in this space but we decided we wanted a tv in this room. After the console/media cabinet arrived, we decided we didn’t want to cover up the garden view. Sooooo, I bought two large blue and white jars, reused a large decorated box as a pedestal for an African fertility body mask, and in front of that is a trio of crystal eggs. It is my tribute to fertility and creativity to the garden and to celebrate the force of life’s renewal. In a room surrounded by books, the fireplace and multiple light sources (sconces, chandelier, reading lamps, candles), flower prints, bird prints, the room in our favorite room in our house. And in true Rough luxe style, I have mirrors above the window. Practically they help hide the fact that this area is about 2′ tall in a 9′ room. Always bugged me. Had hidden under drapery before, but now fully exposed and reflecting the wall of books across from it. Works for me. Hate to tell you this Ms. California Sunshine, but I painted the bead board and fireplace wall black, the bookcases and console are black, the carpet is leopard and there’s a red Afghan rug as a table topper on the round table in the center of the room. It’s probably time you reached for the anti-hives pills!!!!

Your interior designs are always of interest and then today to see your Pinterest board of consoles. There are lots of ideas. I had not considered it a console, but I use an antique Chinese altar table with bamboo legs and black lacquer top measuring 93 inches in length. Behind it are mounted at ceiling height two Chinese ancestral portraits which are just under 6 feet in height. On top the table is an antique Japanese Satsuma censer which stands 18 inches in height and a Chinese statue. Under the table is an antique Chinese red wooden garden stool. I have tried to replicate a Chinese room yet keeping it simple and refined. The remainder of the furnishings are in the same style and arranged as they would have been in a traditional Chinese home.
