PLAYFUL COLORFUL INTERIORS THAT WILL HAVE YOU CRAVING SPRING

Happy Sunday Everyone! How is it in your neck of the woods? I am almost afraid to ask (I have seen the weather reports). That being said, it is time for our Sunday favorites. Mary Ann, Annie, and I are sharing our favorite things that caught our eyes this week. Let’s take a look at Playful Colorful Interiors that will have you craving Spring and much more.

NOTHING SHOUTS SPRING LIKE ANNA SPIRO’S PLAYFUL COLORFUL INTERIORS

No one mixes pattern and color better than Anna Spiro. I always love checking her portfolio for cheerful inspiration.

You can follow Anna Spiro Design on Instagram here, Anna Spiro Textiles here. and Anna Spiro’s personal account here.

I love Anna’s ability to mix the old, and new with beautiful colors and patterns for a collected look. If a collected look in your home is appealing you might enjoy my popular post The Collected Look How to Get It.

Love the happy mix of the oversized modern art with the antique furniture. The casually strewn hats add character and texture.

Anna Spiro's playful colorful dining room

Love the mix of fabrics and the beautiful wallpaper. The modern lamp with the unexpected pop of blue is playful and unexpected.

Anna also has a playful line of home accessories on Anthropologie here.

HOW TO MIX AND MATCH GRAYS

Imogene Lamport has a great post on how to mix and match grays here. It might be helpful to those of us who have gray hair and those who just love gray.

OUTFIT OF THE WEEK

This outfit of the week is definitely a mix of high and low. I LOVE the red shirt from Mango with the ruching detail that would be flattering on any figure. It also comes in black and white. The patchwork denim kimono from Etsy is really fun but of course a little pricier. Ikat mules, earrings, and bandana are also from Etsy. The pretty leather red bag is from Banana Republic. It is gorgeous. If you have a BR card you can save 10% on Tuesday. All items are linked below the graphic.

Easy Peasy Weight Watchers Friendly Recipe

I am almost embarrassed to post this. When I am going to be gone all day (rarely anymore) and want to have something weight watchers friendly ready to eat when I get home, here is what I do. FYI no formal recipe here. Ina Garten swears by this purchased Marinara Sauce You can find it at your local Walmart or order it online here. You can also make your own sauce but that defeats the laziness of the recipe. Toss a jar of this along with a package of TJ’s turkey meatballs in a slow cooker with a couple of cloves of garlic. Cook on low all day. I usually double the recipe . Grab a bag of TJ’s riced cauliflower and brown in a skillet with a little olive oil and salt and pepper when you get home. Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cauliflower rice. Add freshly grated parm and fresh basil. It is a pretty good simple dinner when time is of the essence. I wish I had a pretty pic but I do not sorry. Trust me it is pretty good on a day when you just don’t have time to cook and might end up eating somethingy that you shouldn’t . The leftovers also make great meatball sandwiches (if your husband wants something a little more substantial).

FYI has anyone purchased this cookbook Eat Your Way Healthy at Trader Joe’s ? I wonder if it is worth the money?

The best tank ever on Amazon

I randomly ordered one of these camisoles from Amazon because the reviews were so great.  If you need a camisole to go under a sheer tee or if you have great arms (I don’t) this tank/camisole is amazing.  I just ordered three more colors.

Well that’s it from me. If you enjoy our Sunday favorites you can find many more here. How was your week? Thanks for reading PLAYFUL COLORFUL INTERIORS THAT WILL HAVE YOU CRAVING SPRING.  I know Mary Ann and Annie will have some fun things to share.

Cindy, I am loving that blue plaid sofa in the first photo. Have searched Anna’s website but cannot find this photo or project. I’m assuming it’s a vintage one that’s been recovered? Any ideas where I might be able to find something like that? I’m getting ready to redo our pool house and that whole look would be PERFECT.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Mary

I pulled that photo off either her Instagram or website just last week, but I could not find it either now. I am guessing it is from her new book. That settee looks vintage to me. It wouldn’t be hard to find a large check like that and you can purchase her fabrics online.

    Hi Cindy,
I like having a simple pantry meal up my sleeve for those days that are packed with activities and appointments. I enjoy Rao’s sauce, but I have a couple of other favorites as well.
The outfit was great and like so many of your readers, I absolutely love your style and am often inspired to put together similar or copycat exact outfits. Haha.
    xo,
    Karen B.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Kin

That is good to know will try! Those TJ’s meatballs are great. I have a soup that I love to use them in as well.

Cindy! What a fun post! I think your outfit of the week looks perfect with Anna Spiro’s gorgeous room! I love that denim patchwork kimono with the Artemis shoes, the red bag…it’s like putting together a room with color, textiles….

    Cindy,
Happy Sunday! Love your chats with Sandra, you are both amazing ladies. I love love love Oliplex, it is amazing and great for all hair types.

Love RAO’s sauce, the Arrabbiata sauce is my favorite, which ever is your favorite add a can of diced tomatoes, it make the sauce chunkier and you can never get too much Lycopene.

    Have a great week Cindy.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Elizabeth

I am going to have to revisit Olaplex. I don’t think I was using it properly. I usually add a can of tomatoes too !

  6. Katherine says

    Hi Cindy,
I love Anna Spiro’s style, upbeat and the surprise of unexpected things like the hats. Love the wallpaper it’s really gorgeous.
Oh shucks! I totally forgot to tune in on your favorite Gray Hair products from Sandy and Cindy. Darn it. Can you post it here so I can take a listen. I was out with my Master Gardner Hubby purchasing s very special kind of fertilizer one for trees and shrubs and the other for roses. We have to drive, drive, and drive to purchase it. It’s all good, we turned it into a date.
Hope I can listen to you gals. You have such pretty hair, your and Teresa Mary Ann’s sister.
The clothing is so great, I like the casual vibe.
Today it’s 70 degrees in Arizona, later in the week 78 degrees. We live in the Valley. Sedona is much cooler, maybe still some snow on the ground in Oak Creek Canyon where we had our second home.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Katherine

Thank you. Sandra is working on getting the live up. She is having difficulties with Instagram. Fertilizer shopping sounds like way more fun!! Doesn’t Mary Ann’s sister Teresa have gorgeous hair? I am so jealous! I bet Arizona is beautiful this time of year!

Love the Spiro look. It exudes confidence and joy. About the weather; it cut across three time zones!Ten inches predicted and we got under five. Your 80 sounds like a dream. Morgan looks wonderful. It looks Beau approved! Is the gray hair duet available to watch?

      • Nan of TN says

Do you live in Kansas? I grew up there and do not miss the heavy snows. Never had a school snow day in 12 years of primary education in Kansas. Here in Tennessee, if snow is forecast, they pre-emptively close everything. Though it’s rare to get much snow.

        • Cindy Hattersley says

          Hi Nan

I grew up in the Midwest and we rarely had a snow day in all my years of grammar school. I know what you mean though. We Californians act like the sky is falling in if it rains.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Patricia

Sandra is having technical difficulties with the live and Instagram. I will let you know when it is available!

  9. Nan of TN says

Here is your weather update from Memphis, TN: Ice storm began during pre-dawn hours Thursday and by mid-morning almost 90% of households were without power in this old-growth forested city. Living in a neighborhood with underground utility service did not spare us, but 14 hours with only a small gas log fireplace for warmth in living room when it’s in the low 20’s outside was miserable. To stay active and warm, I redecorated the guest bathroom! Then did a happy dance with my 12 year old Chocolate Lab when electricity was restored at 4:30am Friday. He went into a full-blown panic attack then that took me a half hour to calm, the first one he’s ever had. The trick to calm him? Layer 3 Ralph Lauren cotton blankets folded into quarters over him to provide heavy warmth. Now, I’m in the middle of washing several blankets covered in dog fur…

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Nan

My husband’s brother lives in Knoxville. I bet he is bummed that he can’t play golf! I love that you re decorated the guest bedroom to keep warm! I hope your pooch recovered poor baby. Beau gets upset about things now that he is older that never bothered him too. Anything out of the routine confuses him!

Cindy – Check out your local library for the Trader Joe’s book. My library has an electronic version so that I can pull it up immediately to peruse. Love the colorful designs for spring and especially the blues and reds. Your blog is terrific. I enjoy your Sunday posts. Take care, Jill

    • Cindy Hattersley says

  11. Mary Ann Pickett says

The easy recipe sounds great!! We have already bought the meatballs!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      HI MARY ANN

I NEED THAT RED SHIRT AND IT LOOKS SOOOO FLATTERING! THAT RECIPE IS GOOD. I THINK HOWARD WOULD APPROVE!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      HI GG

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I AM SO GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT. I WORK HARD ON THESE SUNDAY POSTS!

  12. holly says

Started watching For the Love of Kitchens yesterday on Discovery+ and am smitten with the deVOL English kitchen. While the focus is on kitchens, their design wisdom is useful for the entire home. Have a great week! Oh, and love, love, love Rao’s sauces.

  13. Cindy Adams says

Love all the color and so well decorated.

The outfit is very cute and I’m sad that blouse doesn’t come in a 12.
I don’t know Mango I guess that all their sizing doesn’t go past 10
And couldn’t find a size chart.
