I recently completed a project for the wonderful owners of Morgan Winery. Their tasting room is located in the popular Crossroads shopping area in Carmel. The Morgan label produces some of the finest Pinot Noirs from the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation. The owners wanted a fresh look while keeping some of the major elements. Let’s take a look at the Morgan Tasting Room’s Fresh Modern Look.
We worked together to give their tasting room a refresh while keeping on brand. We decided to keep the bar and the lower counters in back. We also wanted to keep the great looking easy care vinyl (reclaimed wood look ) flooring. This was my inspiration board for that area.
This was my inspiration board for the existing surfaces and surface updates along with the fabric selections. All fabrics are Perennials for easy care.
We painted the lower walls the same color as the upper. (white) We kept the bar, tore out the heavy upper cabinets, replaced them with more modern shelving, and painted the lower cabinets hale navy to complement the existing bar. We added brass hardware and pendant lighting to brighten the space and painted the windows dark.
The bar area as it looks now. Hattersley Construction built reclaimed look open shelving.
Brian Ford of Steve Ford Painting did all of the beautiful painting. They matched the wall color (we had no idea what white it was) and gave the lower cabinets
Here is the bar area before the updates.
The owners wanted more seating so we created a long banquette spanning the windows and north end of the tasting room. Hattersley Construction built the banquette and we added brass coffee tables and custom made ottomans by Ace Upholstery.
All of the fabrics are Perennials for ease of care. Donna worked with Kirk Kennedy and created a gallery wall above the seating area highlighting the history of the winery and the famous Double L Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands.
This is what this area looked like before
Donna and Jackie also wanted an area where they could do library tastings, We ordered a custom table from Big Daddy’s Antiques with a modern base and reclaimed wood top. We added black leather roadhouse chairs from CB2.
Donna and Steve from Hattersley Construction designed the Barrel Wall (great idea Donna!). Throughout we mixed metals( brass and oil rubbed bronze ). We felt very fortunate to find this great fixture that combined both.
The area before the makeover.
