GIVE MORE SAVE MORE AND EAT WELL

OUTFIT OF THE WEEK-FEATURING FEED

I am starting off with the Outfit of the Week because I found a few items I think you will love. FYI both the jeans and the sweater also come in extended sizes. I am keeping it simple because I think you want these items. I ordered these Born loafers from Nordstrom and they are the most comfortable shoes right out of the box I have ever worn. I ordered the brown and I am ordering the black tomorrow because they are now on sale. They come in multiple colors. I can’t recommend them highly enough. I went downtown to a couple of my favorite local shops. I found this fabulous Sanctuary sweater at Bijou Paso. You can also purchase it online at Nordstrom’s here., and in extended sizing on Stitch Fix here. It is soft, flattering, and covers the bum. I have been searching for a great pair of jeans and I LOVE the Rachel jean from Kut from Kloth. They are having 20% off all online purchases now as well. I purchased mine at Haley & Co I have another pair of their jeans that I have had for years, and still wear them. They aren’t ridiculously expensive like some jeans either. Last but not least I am featuring a bag from Feed. They are having their annual give more save more event. If you aren’t familiar with FEED, the number on the bags represents the number of school meals they will provide to children in America and around the world. You can read more about FEED’S mission here.

THE WISDOM OF CARLA ASTON

Do you read Carla Aston’s blog? Carla is one of the best “teachers” of Interior Design, I know of. Carla knows how to break Interior Design down so that we can all understand it and utilize it in our own home. I am a big fan of keeping one’s main upholstered pieces neutral and adding color and pattern in the accessories. Carla’s recent post Timeless Neutrals never go out of Style breaks it down.

LUXE GIFTS FOR THE ENTERTAINER

I consider all of these gifts to be luxe even though many do not have luxe price tags. I love the tortoise ice bucket, and who wouldn’t love cozying up to this faux fox throw? I never have enough cheese knives and appetizer spoons. This gorgeous brass tray would be the hit of the party. Another need in our entertaining closet, is small bowls for dips, munchies, and sauces. I love that these olivewood bowls don’t break. The oversized linen napkins from PB are favorites in my house. Rustic cutting boards for entertaining anyone? I have my eye on the horn napkin rings. This beautiful picnic basket would be a luxe gift for a young couple or an older one like us for that matter! Grown Alchemist (a new favorite) Cedarwoo, Ylang Ylang and Tangerine is a wonderful not overly Christmasy scent.

HEALTHY TEX MEX CAULIFLOWER EGG CASSEROLE

I am trying to eat healthier options for breakfast. I am going to make this breakfast casserole tomorrow. I have another cauliflower breakfast casserole that is even simpler than this one, but I cannot locate the recipe. I am going to give this one from cotter crunch a try with a few additions. I am going to add some fresh chopped oregano to the mix and green onions. I may add 1/4 cup of nonfat yogurt to add a little creaminess as well. I like this one because you can throw it together in minutes if you keep priced cauliflower in the freezer (which I do).

Cindy, I love this outfit! I am in my plaid season now and a black sweater goes with most plaids. I will check it out after I comment.

I am so excited for Annie, the feature is well deserved. Hopefully soon we will see you in Vogue! You need your own column!

Love all of you gift ideas! That picnic basket is calling my name!

Cannot wait to hear more about the cauliflower egg casserole. I am not a fan of breakfast and when I don’t eat well to start the day I make bad choices all day long.

    Have a wonderful week Cindy.

      Hi Elizabeth

You are absolutely right about making bad choices all day long…I eat pretty healthy most of the time but I do…go astray! I want that picnic basket too!!

Cindy … love your outfit of the week. It’s what I call ‘dressed up’ these days … hey, at least I’m out of my sweats. anyway, this is my everyday uniform and the sweater is perfect. Born shoes are the most comfortable. I adore them. And, of course, Feed bags are the best. xo

    Hi Cindy,
I ordered the Born loafers. I’ve been searching for a pair that are comfortable and could work with jeans. Thanks for the tip.
I’ll enjoy reading what the talented Mary Ann and Annie are reporting this week.

I have always used a neutral as a base..sofa, 2 chairs and 2 ottomans , I like to add white slipcovers in the summer and then and pillows and throw changes through the year. Heads up ,,,,Now Lauren Leiss has a rug collection at USA Rugs!

Cindy love that look and that FEED bag and sweater. I have two FEED bags and I see a lot of people carry them. I love that they represent doing good, versus a status bag. I agree more cotton sweaters are good. Love the luxe gift and the napkins rings and picnic basket especially. Carla is so fun to follow and I enjoy her tutorials on redoing rooms. I learn a lot from her.
    Have a good weekend!!

I want that sweater!!! But if you saw my closet…it’s so much black after living in SF. But I’m wearing a black sweater now. I love ALL those gifts for the entertainer…nice gifts, too, for a certain blogger with a birthday coming up 🙂

  9. Gray says

Love that cotton sweater – always looking for cotton sweaters. I try not to wear wool any more – too itchy! Plus it only gets cold enough for that a few weeks a year here. And I have not heard of Carla’s blog so I could use some “breakin it down”!
