Holiday Home Tour-Part 1

I’m so happy to be joining Christy and Amy from 11 Magnolia Lane, and Jenny from Evolution on Style on the Holiday Tour of Homes again this year. If you are coming here from Citrine Living welcome! This year they asked each of us to share a part of our house instead of the entire shebang (thankfully as we had a full house for Thanksgiving) and I do not put my Christmas decor up until after Thanksgiving.  There has been a lot of scurrying around since our last guests left (well even before!).  I am sharing my entry and my dining room today. Welcome to my Holiday Home Tour Part I will share the rest of my home as I get it done!

So come on in. This year I changed it up a little bit and filled this inexpensive basket from Amazon with foraged greens from my yard and my neighbors.

Every year I conjure up a theme and go for it.  This year I imagined an Enchanted Forest.

I reinvent this Christmas Mannequin every year. This year she is made almost entirely of moss and sports a short skirt.

Her belt is a grapevine garland.  It is garnished with some faux greens, feathers, Osage oranges and pinecones. Her “brooch” is made of faux antlers, walnuts & foraged berries.

I love chartreusey green  and how it accents my vintage botanicals that go up the staircase.

The garland on the stairs is also faux from Park Hill Collection.  I added some twigs, vintage wide chartreuse milliners ribbon, faux moss and some foraged materials to make it look less faux.   I gave the same treatment to a faux Park Hill Collection wreath.

In the dining room, I continued the enchanted forest theme. We purchased the “lawn deer” at the Goat Hill Fair a couple of years ago, and I have been wanting to incorporate it into a tablescape so this theme called out for it.

The deer is placed on an old plank that rests on a scarf.  Foraged greens, pine cones, antlers, osage oranges, moss balls and moss surround it.

The place cards were made on Canva. Sources for the chargers, plates, napkins, glasses and napkin rings can be found in the widget at the bottom of the page.

christmas place setting

A Faux green wreath from Park Hill Collection hangs on the old french window. An angel and two antique boxes rest on the chest.

In the corner near the family room is a chest with a painting by Patricia Huber fine Art.

In the opposite corner is (the mad scientist) bust that I purchased in Round Top from Parham and Company and two antique document boxes also purchased in round top.

Your home looks amazing and that mannequin is such a fun piece! I love all your greenery and your pretty tablescape too. Those monogrammed chairs make the perfect background for every holiday!
    Cheers!

Wow Cindy I don’t even know where to begin! I love it all so much! You did that all after Thanksgiving??! I am dying over your enchanted forest theme, my sister and I made enchanted forest wreaths for Halloween, now I’m thinking I need to incorporate it into my Christmas! I love the earthy and organic, it has a rustic elegance. You blew me away! XX Jen

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Jen!
I cheated a little. I used the same tablescape for Thanksgiving. I just removed the leaves and added greens! Thank you so much for the kind comment

  3. Karen B. says

I love the rustic touches, gathered pinecones, pepper berries and twigs. ‘Manne’s’ outfit is truly high style. 🙂
Everything looks great. I prefer faux greens these days. There was a time I would have turned up my nose, but I got tired of sweet pine needles after 2 weeks and truly needing to replace the fire hazard. I now collect the real greens from the Christmas tree lot and supplement my faux garlands and centerpiece.

      Hi Karen
I have tried to “keep it natural” for years but you are so right. They smell fabulous for a few days and then they begin to look and smell crusty! I am trying to keep it natural looking without all the “crumbs” everywhere!!

Love it all. You know me and how much I love anything Deer related. I will definitely order those napkin rings and jump into Canva for those place cards. Thanks for yet again another inspiring post!

Hi Cindy! Thanks for sharing your home with us. Love the nature theme you have this year. Your mannequin has inspired me to decorate a small child size that I got in Round Top. We go there frequently since we live just a few miles away in Brenham. It will sit perfectly on my fireplace hearth. Happy Holidays!!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Cindy, I look forward to your tour every year so I can see how you’ve “dressed” your mannequin with natural elements. This year does not disappoint–it’s stunning! Great colors on your front door, too. The blue door and the copper ribbon are spot on. Thanks so much for touring with us again this year! XO, Christy
