Do you Like Healthy eats, Good Books, Movies and a Fun Outfit?

Today I am joining my pals Mary Ann and Annie for our Sunday favorites. Do you like healthy eats, good books, movies and a fun outfit? If so, you have come to the right place.

NORA MURPHY COUNTRY HOUSE ON INSTAGRAM

There are several good design books coming out this month which I think is very wise. A beautiful design book is sure to chase away the winter doldrums. Nora Murphy’s second book Nora Murphy Country House Living is available for pre-order now on Amazon.

Nora Murphy Country House Living

I love Nora Murphy’s collected style. Her first book Nora Murphy’s Country House was wonderful so this is sure to be equally as enchanting. For more inspiration, you can follow Nora Murphy on Instagram here. If you are in New England, stop by her charming shop in Chester, Connecticut. If I lived close I would be in big trouble.

Outfit of the Week

One of the things requested in the survey were outfits that were quirkier and more fun. This week I came up with two. The first features a patchwork dress from Anthropologie. I paired it with Chuck Taylor’s (I wish I could wear them). I have been thinking about trying the mens. Has anyone had any luck with I paired the dress and sneaks with an inexpensive bag from Amazon. You could wear this dress as a duster as well over leggings or pants now until the weather warms.

Shop Outfit of the Week

The second outfit features a one size fits all quilted top from Etsy, with a price friendly shirt (that I own in two colors) from Sanctuary, and my favorite booties and jeans. this top would be fun with a midi skirt as well. I have had this top on my favorites list for quite some time. The etsy store Istorist has some very creative options.

Red Pepper Hummus with Roasted Red Pepper Salad

We were at a party last night attended by a lot of “industry peeps” (food and wine). It was a potluck, but everyone brought such interesting food to share. The food was wonderful. This dish was especially delicious. He prepared red pepper hummus topped by a wonderful roasted red pepper salad. The result was fabulous. I think the recipes below are very similar.

Let’s use Ina Garten’s Red Pepper Hummus as the base, topped by Once Upon a Chef’s Red Pepper Salad. I could have made a meal out of this. Thank you Tova for a wonderful party.

The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store

Last week I hosted book club. I knew I wasn’t going to have much time to read over the holidays, and I was sick, so I chose a book I had already read. Have you read The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride? I practically had to reread it (thank you Audible), but I enjoyed catching up so to speak. It is a wonderful book about the importance of community. If you haven’t read it, you might enjoy it.

What we are Watching

Is anyone else watching Harlin Cobin’s Fool Me Once? Steve goes to bed so early, it is hard to complete a series but we are almost finished with this one. I didn’t realize so many of his books have been made into movies. This one is a good one if you haven’t seen it.

That’s it from my desk this week. Do you have any good movie or book recommendations to share? This is the last day to fill out my survey. Thank you for so many wonderful suggestions. I will report back on the results next week. Leslie and I are working on several of your suggestions right this very moment. Thank you for sharing your Sunday with me and reading do you like healthy eats, good Books, movies and a fun outfit? You can find all of my Sunday favorites right here if you in case you would like to catch up.

Now let’s pop over and see what Mary Ann and Annie are sharing this week.

    Hi Cindy,
I like the quirky dress, but I couldn’t wear the high-top sneakers without looking like an old woman trying too hard. Hahaha.
I am loving Harlan Corban’s “Fool me Once” on Netflix. I’ve seen #3 of 8 episodes of Fool Me. It’s so intriguing. Corban has more of his books made movies on Netflix. I plan to try them.
I love Nora Murphy’s first book and look forward to her second.
Thank you for changing things up a bit and including a few more design ideas/features.

Always love your posts. So much great info and sense of community. We recently watched Woman in Gold, with Helen Mirren. Loved it. I believe it was Netflix.

      Hi Carol

He served it with baguette slices. I would serve it with toasted pita triangles.

  4. Maeve says

Really enjoyed Fool Me Once — and, yeah, surprise ending … but satisfying.
The salad seems summery, but I’m going to try it anyway. Thanks!

I just finished binge watching Fool Me Once. Surprise ending but won’t say anymore. Let us know your thoughts once you finish watching,
Love to try the recipe but the salad topping takes you back to the humus recipe.
Love the lace top but unfortunately it’s sold out in white. The brown wouldn’t suit my coloring and I have so many black tops.

      Hi Joanna and Cindy,

Surprise ending for sure. I watched it with my kids and we loved it. Looking for something else now. Just finished Bear.

Hi Cindy — I’m reading Heaven and Earth Grocery Store right n9w — sooo good. I’m also recommending Horse and Tom Lake. Loved you fun outfits today — I’m really boring myself with my jeans or black leggings & a camel or black turtleneck.
I always enjoys your Sunday favorites.

  8. Julane Borth says

The hummus and salad look delicious. Would you please re-send the salad part of the recipe. It takes me back to the hummus recipe. Thank you.

  9. Pat Huber says

Hi Cindy– I am throughly enjoying a book (audible) entitled ‘The Mysterious Case of Rudolf Diesel’, the man who invented the diesel engine. The world history at the turn of the century is fascinating.

  10. Sheila A Ghiglieri says

I don’t know if you’ve been asked this, but what brand/color lipstick are you wearing? Love it.
Thank you for all you share 🙂

    • AJ says

Love both of today’s outfits.; like having “fun” outfits in winter.
Love Ina’s hummus recipe and like the idea of the red pepper salad atop. Book club just read “Horse “ by Geraldine Brooks. Lively discussion! It’s a longer book so we chose it for 2 months out to give every one time to read it. I have Heaven and Earth grocery in my library list – looking forward to reading it I also just read Good Night, Irene which I received in my book club December book exchange. About the Red Cross volunteers (women) who went with the US soldiers in Europe in WW2. Fascinating part of history. Historical fiction

Two books our Book Club has on their list, that I’ve read:
    Our Missing Hearts- Celeste Ng
Necessary Trouble, Growing up mid century-Drew Gilpin Faust
Our community book club’s membership has exploded with 25 members!
We’ve decided to read a classic once a year.
Funny story; my daughter accidentally thru a mistyped email address was included in a post of book club members who live in New Zealand! I’m trying to meet with them in NZ next month l

I allow myself to watch Netflix during the day as I ride my stationary bike, I been going 2 hours/day watching “ Fool me Once”- so good! Have you seen “Bank of Dave?” Based on true story set in north of England, very charming!

  13. Linda Henderson says

I always appreciate book recommendations. I have read another one by James McBride, Deacon King Kong, so I will add this one to my TBR list.

  14. Susan says

FYI, Chuck Taylors com in unisex sizing with a wide option. May take several orders to get it right! Good luck!

  15. Mary Ann Pickett says

We finished Fool Me Once…did you? I won’t ruin the ending. That appetizer looks amazing! I wonder if it’s vegan…I need a vegan dish for a brunch.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Mary Ann

No we haven’t seen the end yet. It takes forever to watch any series with Steve because he goes to bed so early!! Maybe tonight! I am sure the hummus is vegan. It was really good and beautifully presented!
