While working on a current project I came across a lovely kitchen that had been featured in SF Cottages and Gardens This prompted me to take a closer look. I am continually impressed with the content of the regional magazines since many of our national publications have disappeared. The Cottages and Gardens franchise seems to be doing a great job in the areas they cover. Let’s take a look at our local version.
The most recent publication features this gorgeous home in Sonoma by the Amazing Backen, Gillam and Kroeger. I wrote about Howard Backen’s book here. My favorite book of all time. If you don’t have it in your library you should. You can buy it here.

Every single image…..wowza!
The environments photographed were beautiful and no one talks about the colors and details of the rooms of the interiors we understand that details and colors would fit right inside an apartment.
Beautiful work. Pinning away.
Carla if you don't have the book From the Land you should. I think you would love it.
What fresh rooms. I love their simplicity and the inviting, casual feel of each room.
I'll have to check out the magazine online.
Thanks, Cindy
Karen
I am crazy over these rooms as well Karen. I am not so often inspired any more but this certainly got my mind going!!
That is cool how they divided the the twin beds…nice use of the space. So many things to pin!
I know isn't it great?!!
My childhood home in Wisconsin was floor to ceiling windows in the living room so you could enjoy the lake view. That first home makes me homesick now that my childhood home has been razed and replaced with a McMansion. I would love to curl up and take a nap on the couch in front of the fire in that first home. Do you think they would mind?
Hi Holly I am a fellow midwesterner and my childhood home on the lake was replaced by a McMansion as well!
Such a beautiful home, Cindy. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks Lisa…I love these spaces…
Every room here is absolutely divine! Thank you for sharing Cindy!
Hi Vel..I am a big fan of the Backen group. In my mind they can do no wrong…
i could seriously live in any of the above spaces (inside or out)…such eye candy. thanks for sharing these.
I agree Nancy LOVE all of these spaces! That is why I had to share!!
I love that first family room with the blues. The state of magazines is just sad. But I do think it's a sign of the times. The internet had changed the way we get our news. Magazines are included in that.
That is why many of us get our decor fix from you Joni. You put more effort into your posts than many magazines put into an article. I still love magazines because I can refer back to them. However I have to be honest Pinterest is what I use the most.
