TRAVEL AND LEISURE’S 2022 DESTINATION OF THE YEAR

Travel and Leisure have chosen Mexico as their 2022 travel destination of the year. This article is chock full of information on why it was chosen, the best resorts, small towns and more. I think you will find it interesting.

GIFTS FOR THE ULTIMATE ENTERTAINER UNDER $65

I love Ballard Designs Tortoise ice bucket and their tortoise bowls. Pottery Barn always has great cheeseboards and knives during the holidays, and I love their initial marble coasters. I always pick up a few for gifts. Terrain has paperwhites. Any entertainer would love them. The Tatine bitter orange candle was a gift to me for Mary Ann and I love it. Crate and Barrel has a great earthy-looking candle holder if you are using a faux flame, or it would make a pretty vase. I am putting the rechargeable eco-friendly candle starter for Steve’s stocking. A fresh bay wreath from Williams Sonoma would please any entertainer. Last but not least everyone’s favorite soap Aesops. Place it in your powder bath and your guests will love you.

STYLISH SMALL ROOM IDEAS FROM HOUSE AND GARDEN UK

Love so many of these small space ideas from House and Garden UK

I think almost everyone has a small room in their home that is difficult to decorate or just plain non-functional. This article has some wonderful decorating ideas for these rooms.

Love this teeny kitchen. Great idea for a studio apartment, guest or granny quarters, a basement rec room, or anywhere you are trying to squeeze in a tiny kitchen.

CARLA ASTON INSPIRATION BOARDS AND SOURCES

Do you follow Texas Designer Carla Aston? If you don’t you are missing out. Carla is very generous with her tips and tricks and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the industry. And did I mention she is a very talented designer? For some reason, I am no longer getting her emails so I almost missed this. She created some beautiful inspiration boards around some fabulous rug samples. If you subscribe to her email list she is sharing all the sources. How fun is that? You can read Carla’s post on her inspiration boards here.

    Hi Cindy
All so very inviting and lovely! I like decorating small rooms, you can make a big impact in little space!
Nice gift ideas, I see a bunch of things I’d like to get, for myself! Do you do that? I get one for them and two for me!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

      Hi Heidi

Are you kidding that is the problem with Xmas shopping one for me one for you, right?

    Ciao cara Cindy
A presto.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Dora

I am so glad you enjoyed the introduction to Carla. I think you would enjoy following her. I am so glad to hear things in Bologna are getting better. Happy Holidays!

  3. Karen B. says

    Cindy,
I always put my tree up the weekend following Thanksgiving day. I can hardly wait. It will be in a new to me house and I’m looking forward to kicking off my time there with the holidays and all of its decorations. Thanks for the tips on gift buying.
    xo,
    Karen

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Karen

That is exactly what I do, but I am going to have to do a little early decorating this year since I am not hosting Thanksgiving! Those darn holiday tours are early this year!!

  4. Annie Diamond says

Love your gift guide! All things you love and so would all of your friends! Such great finds for under $65.

That little kitchen is so cute and colorful. The laundry room with that hanging bar the full length of the room…perfect!

And Carla’s inspiration boards are so beautiful! This one with black and white, wood, texture….so gorgeous! Everything I love!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Annie

Carla lost her email list! I was wondering why I wasn’t getting her emails!! Isn’t that laundry room wonderful?

  5. Carla aston says

Thank you so much for sharing my post, Cindy!! Back in March I accidentally deleted my whole email list in Mailchimp. 😬 major user error!! Anyway, I’ve still been publishing away and trying to gain it back, bit by bit. I really appreciate the link! Love doing those flatlays and sharing them on my blog. Again, many thanks!!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Carla

I wish you had told me!I am going to put you in my stories today and tell people to resign up!

  6. Elizabeth@pineconesandacorns says

Cindy, I always love your Sunday posts so much to see and read. Beautiful gift guide, love the tortoise shell items and the candles.

I love Christmas and always decorate early because we have lots of guests during both holidays and the ones that come for Thanksgiving do not come for Christmas so I want them to enjoy a little of that as well. Not to mention that December is my month to bake, I send about 60lbs of baked goods to family and friends and that means a lot of baking and no time to decorate.

Have a wonderful week Cindy, I hope that you rest and relax!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Believe it or not I used to bake too! I barely know how now! I still love to cook, but baking….well not my forte. Maybe in retirement I need to relearn. In the meantime I will just drool over what you prepare!!

  7. Debbie Williams says

Just got the bay leaf wreath …. Have always loved those ….. great inspiration …. Thank you.

  8. Wren says

I finally succumbed to a fake Christmas tree last year. I could no longer fit a real one into my car and the faux look pretty real these days. I will set it up and decorate minimally even though I will be away on Christmas. I still want the spirit alive and well in my own home and will burn a pine or cedar candle to get the fragrance.
Thank you for gift ideas. I really like the C&B candle holder. Maybe a good combo with the candle starter? The way you have set up your suggestions, both today and at other times, makes it so easy to hover the curser over the item to see the price point. On some other blogs, doing that always takes you to the site and I don’t always want that. Thanks for keeping it simple!
    Happy Sunday~

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Wren

I succumbed to fake when my kids were both still in college. They would not have a fake tree! However, my son has a fake one now! I always have the price and vendor available on the hover so that you don’t need to click to find the price!

  9. Laura HEITZ says

I’m glad that you mentioned Carla Aston. She is a wonderful interior designer! I’m a huge fan.

    Cindy:
Happy Funday Sunday, Hope y’all get some RRR.
Rest is a good thing. I have stuck to family and our own tradition , from long ago til now.
No Christmas decorations , set out until Thanksgiving weekend, goal is have it all done by first week of December, and to the Tree farm.

I love all the gift ideas for the Entertainer, it was always so difficult to come up with ideas for Mom and Dad, and friends, ….. ( kinda like had everything).,

Remember the days of the $50 and under gift guides? Inflation is everywhere! 😉 Love the C&B hurricane. Would look nice next to my new Votivo Red Currant candle! What a beautiful candle in scent and appearance. My new go-to. No Christmas decor until November 30th for me. Will be decking the halls while my husband has kidney surgery. It will keep me occupied as I wait for updates. As always, thanks for all your posts on decor, fashion, and lifestyle. They always inspire.
