Is Fall a Time of New Beginnings for You

Happy Sunday everyone. Our weather cooled drastically this past week, and it has me thinking about all things fall. Is fall a time of New Beginnings for You or just another season? As usual, I am joining my pals Mary Ann and Annie for our Sunday Favorites.

MUSHROOM SOUP FROM CLOSET COOKING

I am dusting off my soup recipes. Steve’s brother and sister-in-law are visiting for a few days, so I think I will make this mushroom soup tomorrow night. Lauren made this for us when we were in the midst of our last move and it was delicious. You can find the recipe here.

HIGH HEELS IN THE WILDERNESS WISDOM

Sue is a wonderful writer, and I enjoyed her post on Season of Change here. I think you might enjoy it as well.

OUTFIT OF THE WEEK

I love an all-neutral look. The faux leather pants, and sweaters from J Crew were my inspiration for the outfit this week. All you need to add is my favorite Gigi Pip hat, a leopard scarf, and a pair of comfy birdies. All of the items are linked below the graphic.

Your hats look so stylish…but I have a hat style / etiquette question.
Do you wear them into your favoriting dining spots?
How do yo avoid “hat head hair”?
    Thanks for any tips!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Penny

I most certainly do wear them out dining. To be honest, I usually wear hats when I am going to be in the sun and when I don’t want to do my hair! They hide the flat look I have on days I don’t wash my hair which are many. I try to only wash my hair about three times a week.

Soup weather is back and I couldn’t be happier. Mandy’s home is so good … and her account one of my favorites. Love your outfit of the week … those neutral are so soothing and chic. I’m one who find fall a time of renewal and fresh starts. So many of the wonderful things in my life happened in the fall and each year when October rolls around I find myself having great expectations. xo

I love Fall because it’s the end of the brutal heat of southern California. When I was young, it was the time of Back to School and some new clothes and when I was a teen, the extra-thick issue of Seventeen magazine. This summer’s heat was almost unbearable, so I welcome Fall even more today.

My soup pot has already been simmering away, along with an extra batch if Ina Garten’s chicken stock. I have been plotting a lighter palette for fall — thanks for the nudge. Mandy Eno’s style is so effortless. I just love it! Have a great week1
