Outfit of the Week

As you know I am not a huge fan of pattern but this Farm Rio dress is calling my name. You could wear it with block heels to a wedding or with sandals out for dinner.

Great Books Written about New Orleans

I read The Accidental City by Lawrence Powell before one of our visits (probably the last). It’s a great book to take on the plane if you are heading to Nola. Here is a list from Bookhub of 11 Captivationg books set in New Orleans. Anne Rice has written multiple novels (if you like gothic fiction) with New Orleans as a backdrop, as she was raised and lived many years in the city.

Thank you for reading Do you Love New Orleans, Bohemian Design and Intrique? No we aren’t on our way to New Orleans but I have visited many times. We are homebound for awhile until Scout behaves well enough to leave with a dog sitter! I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. Have you been to New Orleans recently, or have a trip planned?

Now let’s pop over and visit Mary Ann and Annie for their Sunday favorites. If you would like to catch up on and Sunday faves you may have missed you can find them here.

  1. Cindy, I have never been to NO, and in the past 6- weeks 3 things have come into my consciousness about this interesting city.1)?Sue Sandon’s beautiful dresses 2) Tara Shaw’s wonderful home designes on her YouTube videos. 3) Today’s blog from you.
I think sometime this year, I need a road trip.

    1. Hi Beth

We haven’t been in years either. I would love to go back. Did you see Tara Shaw featured on Brenda’s blog 1010 Park Place? I have long admired her style!

  2. One time I was in NOLA, I stepped into a toy store to buy something for my son back in Kansas. At the moment I crossed the threshold, it suddenly went dark. The equinox! Made spookier by owner playing The Wizard of Oz and Dorothy proclaiming “Toto, we’re not in Kansas any longer.” This in Kansas for love not choice girl had a good laugh.

    1. Ha! Patricia love that story! Hope you are well. Always lovely hearing from you my friend!

  3. The Bohemian style rocks! It is an expression of personal confidence and verve. Please show us even more. Thanks!

    1. Hi Karen

Nothing like the ones in Westport! The Palo Alto and Walnut Creek versions are inside the store and not much. I haven’t been to the one in L.A have you?

  5. Cindy—I haven’t been to New Orleans in years! This makes me want to book a trip! Love that dress shown two ways!

  6. Great post this morning! We are planning a trip to NOLA next spring and there’s so much good info here I can’t wait to jump in and research.
    Thanks

    1. Hi Christine

We haven’t been in some time! Deb Milne has an airbnb there!

      1. I’d love the info on Deb’s Airbnb . We like to stay at Airbnbs these days. A home away from home,

        1. Hi Joanne

Deb’s place is for sale so they aren’t renting it currently unfortunately, but I know they will be redoing another!

  7. Thank you! I am setting off for the US in a couple of days’ time (from the UK) and my trip will include New Orleans for the first time. I now have some great tips about where and what to eat. I am so excited!

  8. I visited New Orleans back in 2000. We found a hotel close to Bourbon Street so we could easily pop back to our room. It sure is a lively place. At around 9ish you can feel a shift change. Shortly after we headed back to our hotel, went to bed early, and got up at 5:00 to tour the city, looking at all the beautiful architecture without all the people, I’d love to go back and take some cooking classes. I’d love to explore the city in more depth, too. Maybe, some shopping.
That dress is wonderful! I’m trying to become more comfortable wearing dresses outside the house, travel, or an event. I haven’t been successful yet, always changing before heading out for groceries, etc. I feel overdressed living in a laid back town.

    1. Hi Joanna

We have stayed in the french quarter but never too close to Bourbon Street. I am not much of a dress person either but I am working on it!
