Christmas with Summer and Over 50 Fashion

Happy Holidays! I am popping in with a quick Christmas with Summer and Over 50 Fashion because so many of you have emailed or direct messaged me regarding my outfits on Instagram.

We just celebrated our family Christmas on Saturday. There is nothing better than seeing Christmas in the eyes of a little one.  Little Summer enjoyed every minute of it especially her brand new jeep from Uncle Colin and Aunt Lauren. She will be 20 months old in a few days and is definitely going to be tall like her daddy.

Riding in the gator with Grampy is always a highlight even before you are out of your pj’s!

And the trip is not complete without a trip to the Aquarium!

Now on to your fashion questions. Between my 65th Birthday trip to SF (thanks to our kids Colin & Lauren), my birthday luncheon with my blogging pals (thanks ladies!), and our Napa trip with Colin and Lauren, we have had tons of fun and non-stop celebrating!

At Frank Family Winery in Napa I am wearing the zip-up Treasure and Bond (Nordstrom brand) cape.  I almost didn’t buy this it was so reasonable it was crazy. I love it because it zips up (instead of being open), it is long enough to cover the bum and it has snaps below the armholes.  I am wearing it with my favorite Lysse leggings and my bed stu manchester boots.  These boots are over three years old, are made beautifully and are super comfortable.

Steve is wearing the Tasso Leather Jacket (on super sale) from Macys with the ever-favorite Tommy Bahama half-zip that comes in a million color combinations.

Many of you have emailed me about this outfit from Instagram as well. This vest came from Anthropologie and is no longer available, but I found a few similar options for you.  This pic was from my birthday celebration in Berkeley with my blogging pals, Kim from Northern California Style, Mary Ann from Classic Casual Home, and Elizabeth from the Vintage Contessa. Kim is wearing that much loved Emerson Fry leopard jacket that we all covet. I thought about stealing it off the back of her chair!

You will also note that in both pics I am carrying the rag and bone crossbody bag that you saw on my post In Search of the perfect crossbody bag. I did end up purchasing this bag but I found it in excellent shape for a great price on poshmark.  This bag might be a little small for some.  It is big enough for a small wallet, my glasses and a couple of makeup items, but I love the way it looks and the fact that it lies flat for packing.  I think the color is super versatile.  It looks great with everything.  You might want to check out my post for more ideas.

FYI if you aren’t following me on Instagram please do.  Many of you have asked about the swipe up.  I can’t utilize it until I have 10,000.00 followers so please spread the word!!

Please stop back on Thursday for my annual most popular post and survey. The survey is quick, anonymous and oh so helpful to me. It helps me plan for the year and to make sure I am writing about what you most enjoy.  My subscriber list has increased by 35% this year so we have a lot of new readers.  If Google serves me correctly (I am not so sure) most of my new subscribers are most interested in fashion, and beauty over 50.  I kind of fell into the beauty and fashion thing by accident as you know.  I will continue to write about interiors and design but I would like to keep a healthy balance. In the meantime Happy New Year and pop back on Thursday!

    Cindy,
What a great post. Grandkids are so much fun.
I love your style and shop your recommendations often. It’s so nice to have a blog friend (close to my age) who shares great fashion finds.
    Happy New Year.

I enjoyed seeing those sweet pics of your family, I know they make you smile! Grandchildren–I just never knew…

I love that you had the trip with your friends, Cindy. I, too, thought you looked terrific in the wrap. Plaids and patterns are a hit this season. I fell in love with a black and gray plaid shawl the other day with a faux fir collar. It looks so great with black leather gloves. But I really have to save it for winter days when I know I’m in and out of a restaurant and the like. Its going into the twenties here in Chicago, snow and who knows!

Love to you and all the best in the New Year!😘

      Hi Jane!
That cape sounds fabulous! Elizabeth (the vintage contessa) gave me a beautiful pair of cashmere gloves that I have yet to wear. Our climate is so mild here. I should have packed them when we went to Napa I could have used them. Thanks for the sweet comment about my family. You are so right about grandchildren…who knew!!
