Do you find white jeans difficult to wear after the age 50 or 60? The list is endless. I personally find them to be a challenge. Let’s chat about 10 Ways to Casually Style White Jeans: A Guide for Women Over 50.

Do you wear white denim in fall and winter and ignore the old fashion rules? Do you pair them with colored tops, or do you prefer a more neutral look? If you wear a size 22, or a jeans size 29 we have you covered.

HOW TO STYLE WHITE JEANS: A GUIDE TO PAIRS THAT FLATTER MY BODY SHAPE

I have a curvy physique with large legs & an equally large booty. I am 5’4, with short legs and a smallish waist compared to the rest of my body. I am fairly limited to what type of (white) jeans are flattering on me. Thank goodness the skinny jean left the room. With my thighs, I looked like a stuffed sausage in the white version.

THE WIDE LEG JEAN

According to Vogue “Classic wide legs are consistently roomy through the entire leg length, offering just enough volume without feeling theatrical. Cropped versions feel more casual, baring a bit of ankle, and are an ideal choice for showcasing a great shoe—these also flatter petite frames”

WIDE-LEG ANKLE JEANS WITH A BELTED BUTTON FRONT SHIRT

I am wearing a pair of (my current favorite brand kut from the kloth) off-white jeans in a wide-leg style. I really like these jeans. They are not too thick and have a bit of stretch. I styled them with the beautifully embroidered Magali Pascal linen shirt( unfortunately it’s no longer available) (quince has a similar one here, and I have linked a couple below), Brador sandals, and a Dragon Diffusion bag. I belted the shirt to give it a more polished look. I rarely wear a heavy belt due to the heat in the summer here, but this one is very lightweight. You could certainly wear a pair of loafers instead of the sandals. All items or similar are linked below the pic.

HIGH-RISE WIDE-LEG JEANS WITH A CREW-NECK TEE AND LINEN JACKET

These wide leg jeans are from Banana Republic Factory. I really like them as well. The high waist and thick fabric are good for tummy control. I am wearing them with a metallic tee, an Eileen Fisher jacket and my bracelet and necklace from Parham Co. Studio. The bracelet was a recent gift. Thanks guys! My sandals are from Beek.

THE GIRLFRIEND/BOYFRIEND JEAN-A GUIDE

According to Reader’s Digest “Boyfriend jeans are your friend. They’ll balance out the ratio from your shoulders to your knees and fall perfectly on your curvy hips. The relaxed fit also elongates legs if you’re on the shorter side.

CROPPED BOYFRIEND JEANS WITH A COTTON BUTTON-DOWN SHIRT AND OFF-WHITE HAT

Here I am wearing the Lysee jeans with an older Bryn Walker shirt, Gigi Pip hat, and my favorite Artemis Design Co shoes. The combination of white with the red top is great for Memorial Day. All items or similar are linked below the photo.

I am a sucker for pretty embroidery. I paired this pretty Johnny Was shirt wit the Lysee crop jeans, and Laid Back London sandals. You can find similar sandals on EBay here. If you like Native American Jewelry and you are looking for a pair of lightweight earrings (Mother’s day!) these Frederico Jimenez earrings are worth the investment in my opinion.

    Hi Cindy,
You look so beautifully put-together in everything. I especially loved the embroidered
    blouses on you.
A side note, your hair cut suits you, love the length on you. Youthful length, love it. I’m sure you I work at it, hair is so thick and healthy looking.

You are so much fun! I am a youthful, petite 76 and identify with your style! Everything in my closet is from Sundance catalog. I live a casual, relaxed, married lifestyle in a north Georgia small town after being a single professional in Atlanta for many years. My style has evolved and you are helping me in my current transitioning. I just ordered a pair of Beek sandals, a pair of Eileen Fisher lantern black linen pants, a sun hat and raffia straw bag from Etsy and some Jo Malone Lime, Basil, Mandarin cologne. So happy I found you online. Life continues to be so fun!

I love all these looks, but I’m really drawn to the simple black tee with the girlfriend jeans and the straw hat. So classic and flattering! (And one I can comfortably copy!) 😉 Thank you as always for inspiring!
(BTW the Etsy link for the block print shirts went to Tancredi and Morgan.)

Oh how I loved this post! YES to white jeans! An absolute wardrobe staple in my closet. I also love an off white pair too. I’m intrigued by the Lysee brand of pull on jeans. They look great on you and sound so comfy. When you described your silhouette I almost applauded because that’s exactly my silhouette except a few sizes larger than you so I understand perfectly the dilemma of finding pants that fit waist and thighs and hips.
You my dear are so stylish and definitely so one to emulate. Thank you for great options to fit us hourglass figures with short sturdy legs. 😘🤍🤍🤍

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Kathy Sue

I really like the Lyssee line. They are very flattering. I will share some of the jeans next week on Instagram. Thanks for always being so supportive!!

  11. Lori says

You look so chic in all your outfits, but I’m loving the NochiaBali handbsg! Can you tell me which size you are carrying? Thanks!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Lori

Which bag are you speaking of? Did you mean the Dragon Diffusion bag? It is the large. The other bag is linked below the pic.

  12. Sandra Sallin says

You look fabulous in everyone of these photos. All I could think of was how much time and effort it took to put the looks together, then put them on, then photograph them. I’m sure you lost 5 pounds shooting this. I don’t care for jeans in the summer. It’s too hot in Southern California. But I love White pants all year! Great post.

  13. Wren says

I seriously need to go shopping for white jeans since the ones I have are still skinny. I know others who like the Kut from the Kloth brand and there is a store in town that carries them. That blouse from Magali Pascal is gorgeous but so is the price (and has matching shorts, if you dare!) I’m going to be in Carmel soon and will be sure to go out to Tancredi and Morgen-that’s one of my favs of the looks you put together along with the Eileen Fisher neutrals outfit. Good roundup wearing white jeans!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Wren

You always look fabulous!! I found my first pair of kut from the kloth locally at Haylee and Co downtown. I found the Magali Pascal at Anthro for more than 1/2 off. San Luis does not have it though.

  14. Bette says

I absolutely love wide-leg pants and think you look fabulous in each of these outfits.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Bette

I do too as long as they aren’t too long. I normally need a cropped style.

  15. Susan says

You crack me up. You say you have thick legs and a big booty. Compare to who? Barbie? You look fabulous and stylish. Thanks for the post.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Susan

It is true, I just know how to hide it!! Thanks for the sweet comment!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Sherry

I know that embroidered shirt is great. Check your Anthro, I found mine on sale for more than 1/2 offf!

  17. Annie Diamond says

Cindy! I love every one of your white denim looks! So chic! I love the wide leg pant…until I try it on…then not so much! But you rock that look!
    Xo

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Annie

Well, you are tall and thin and I am short and too curvy. We would definitely need totally different styles!!

  18. Mary Ann Pickett says

Love your new haircut!! So much great inspiration here. I’m not even sure how to pick a favorite. You have such a tiny waist…you look awesome in that belt.
I kept trying to use my skinny white jeans for this post and ended up putting them in the donation pile. Now I just have the one pair of straight high-waisted ones. Going to be too hot here soon to be wearing denim.
    LOVE your woven tote bag.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Mary Ann

Every time he cuts it it gets shorter! It is easier to take care of but maybe just a tad short for me! I have the same problem with white jeans. Try kut from the cloth or Lysee I really like both of them!

  19. Ryal says

I live in Florida, so white jeans are fine all year-round. I love how you find great deals on e-Bay! I never thought of shopping there, but the deals are incredible, and it’s kinda fun! Thanks for opening up my shopping world. 🙂

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Ryal

I am a longtime eBay shopper. I hate paying full price if I don’t have to!!
