Happy Easter! As usual I am joining my pals Mary Ann and Annie for our Sunday faves. Today let’s Savor the Charm of Rosemary Verey’s Gardens, Easter, a Delicious Farm-to-Table Dish & More.
Savor the Charm of Rosemary Verey’s Gardens, Easter, a Delicious Farm-to-Table Dish & More
Sue Bond Interiors on Instagram
I featured Sue’s Theson Island retreat on my blog a few years ago here and it was a favorite. Sue is now restoring a beautiful country home in Wiltshire. If you love beautiful design, you will want to follow her on Instagram here. These beautiful photos from her IG account are sure to get you in the Easter spirit.
Gardens Illustrated Celebrating Rosemary Verey
Through her numerous books, Rosemary Verey shared her wisdom and inspired countless garden enthusiasts like me to cultivate beauty in our own gardens. Her legacy continues, a testament to her enduring influence on the art of garden design. I have several of her books. You can still find them on Amazon here, or if you are lucky in a used book store. Her work highlighting traditional English garden elements, influenced me as a novice gardener. Her work can easily be adapted to any garden style. I was thrilled to see Gardens IIlustrated highlighting her work in Barnsley House Celebrating the Work of Rosemary Verey. And I believe her beloved Barnsley House is now an Airbnb. I am hoping they have maintained the gardens.
Outfit of the Week
I couldn’t resist this gorgeous Farm Rio dress to continue our Easter green theme. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find it on sale anywhere. The hat from Helen Kaminski is also pricey (but worth it). The bag is on sale at J Crew Outlet, and the Birdies sandals are irresistible!
Shop Outfit of the Week
This outfit of the week is a mixture of high and (mostly) low. There are always bargains to be had in dresses, shirts, skirts and pants. When it comes to shoes, inexpensive shoes are no longer an option for me. I love a casual shirt dress or knit dress with sneakers. I am on the fence with the other current trends with sneakers with everything. This week’s dress is from H&M, the jean jacket from Wrangler, the bag from Quince, the sneaks from Superga, and the cap from Anthro. This is a look I love and would feel comfortable wearing almost anywhere the way I live.

The Dreaded Colonoscopy Katie Style
I have had no issues to date (not bragging) so I am elgible for colocare (I won’t go into not pretty either). Apparently Katie’s mister is not. If you are in the same “boat” you will enjoy Katie’s latest full of fun post here.
Dellas Paso Robles Beet Salad Inspiration
One of our favorite casual restaurants in Paso is Della’s. They do a mean pizza, craft a great cocktail and serve one of the best beet salads I have ever savored. If you have been reading long, you know I am a big fan of beet salads. I searched the internet for a similar recipe and I found this version from Geoffrey Zakarian here. Below is the pic of the one we enjoyed at Della’s. I am making Geoffrey’s version next week.

Having just emerged from hospital after an Easter spent on I/V fluids and antibiotics with diverticulitis, I recommend colonoscopies. It’s how they discovered I had diverticular disease a few years ago. Sadly, it’s escalated and I have surgery in a few weeks. Been going through my wardrobe looking for comfy bras, leggings and loose tops that will allow a vestige of style when I’m bloated like a whale, clutching the belly and a bit over it all. We will be in late autumn/early winter so I may get by with leisure gear.
Re Rosemary Very – amazing garden and designer. Helped King Charles (then Prince Charles) lay out Highgrove (another magic garden). I too have her books and find them such a guide to good design and gardening, even here in Australia.
LOVE that first pic in your post.
Cheers

Oh no Prue! I am so sorry to hear that. My brother and sister in law are suffering from the same. I have an outfit suggestion while you are recuperating. I haven’t shared it yet but will this week. Every time I have worn it I have gotten compliments and it is super comfy.

I had forgotten that she designed Highgrove as well.

Hey Cindy
Memories came flooding back from my visit, with my tour customers, to Rosemary’s garden at Barnsley. the story is too long, she screamed at us (I had been warned. It was horrible but her gardens were magical. When I write my book, the whole story will entertain!
xx

Ha Ha. Good timing! I’m on my final prep day for my colonoscopy tomorrow morning. Somehow when I booked it I did not realize that April 1 st was the day after Easter. So what a sad day to prep. It’s liquids only for me but I managed to make lemon lime jello. A pretty Easter Green. Wish me luck. Ten and a half years ago they discovered colon cancer. This is a potentially life saving tests. That said, it never gets any easier!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Leslie
Keep me posted! I have my fingers crossed for a positive outcome!
