Meet Instagram & Tik Tok Rockstar Peaches’n Diesel

I’m absolutely thrilled to be featuring “Peaches” from Peaches ‘n Diesel in this edition of Ageless Style. My wonderful assistant Leslie first introduced me to her Instagram account (@peachesanddiesel104), and I’ve been laughing ever since. Peaches has a gift—she fearlessly pokes fun at the more absurd corners of the fashion world while embracing aging with grace, confidence, and a healthy dose of humor. She’s the embodiment of everything we celebrate here: positive aging, not taking yourself too seriously, and keeping it real. Peaches has found her niche—and we can’t get enough of the House of Peaches, Jolene the Dolly Doodle, Captain Big Shot, Candy, and of course, Roger! Thank you, Peaches, for reminding us all to laugh, lighten up, and live fully.Let’s Meet Instagram & Tik Tok Rockstar Peaches’n Diesel

Before social media, tell us a bit about yourself – your story, past careers, and how these influenced your current path of content creator / platform for unfiltered musings!

I have a video production company in Denver, Colorado, where we produce a variety of videos for clients. I do patient education videos for major hospitals, non-profit videos, and I even went to Uganda to shoot videos for musicians traveling through the country. I am also an editor. Before that, I was an investigative producer for CBS News in Denver and also worked on the assignment desk. So, my ability to produce and edit videos for Peaches comes naturally with my career path.

What’s been the most surprising part of viral fame, and who has been the most interesting (and fun!) person you have gotten to meet?

I guess I’m mostly surprised by the growth and interest in my account. My daily life is like everyone else’s: laundry, parenting, working, dealing with life, being a friend, playing tennis, listening to music, or in some cases, sewing micro-shorts to make a “point” about today’s fashion offerings. The most interesting person I’ve met was actually “pre-Peaches” when I met Wynonna Judd in a bar in Nashville. We hit it off, and she ended up putting her number in my phone. I was a huge fan of hers, and we ended up talking a lot during the pandemic. The other most interesting person was Serena Williams. I won a contest and was invited to go to the US Open in September 2024 for the launch of the beauty line WYN BEAUTY. She was great and I enjoyed every second.

You recently hosted your very own Met Gala Party in NYC – how did this come to fruition? Tell us all about it!

I was contacted by Your VIP Pass, a party planning company in NYC, to see if I wanted to host a party across the street from the Met Gala in NYC. I said YES immediately as it felt like such a fun opportunity. It was a gathering of about 100 people decked out in their finest, who came for good food and drinks and ultimately a Met Gala watch party. The red carpet was on a big screen, and I went around interacting with people about their thoughts on the various looks. You can check out Peaches met galas spoofs here.

Have you always had this sense of humor, or has it grown as you have gotten older and wiser?

I have always had red hair and a sense of humor. All of my report cards from my youth started with “If she would stop talking to her neighbors, she could really….” I just remember always being able to make people laugh.

Tell us how your family feels about your Instagram fame – are they enjoying it? Where’s the funniest place you have been recognized?

I think it’s a mixed bag for my family. I think it can be really fun or super annoying for them. You have to strike a balance between living your life on Instagram or FOR Instagram and also keeping parts of your life shaded from all that. I don’t want to turn into someone who can’t cross the street without documenting it for the internet. I always ask for permission for my husband or kids to be on camera and let them have their say if something doesn’t work for them. I am starting to get recognized more and more in airports, restaurants, malls etc. I think the funniest time was when I was sitting next to Serena Williams at the US Open and these two women screamed “PEACHESSSSSSSSSSS”. Serena whispered to me “I see your fan base is here.”

The US Open this past summer – what a fun opportunity – would you have ever dreamed you would be invited to attend and get to meet Serena Williams (among others)? What other doors has this world opened for you that you would have never dreamed?

I have always believed that anything is possible. I have met very cool people through my Instagram, and not just famous people. I meet nurses and teachers and people struggling with mental health issues or cancer. I like that I have a community of people who enjoy humor and not taking things too seriously. I am open to any and all new opportunities that come my way.

Your husband seems like he’s one of your biggest fans. Tell us how you keep the humor in your relationship and how do you prioritize marriage now versus when you had the kids living at home? How has that relationship changed/strengthened with age?

Captain Big Shot and I have always prioritized our relationship, even when the kids were little. He is naturally very loving and caring and has helped us maintain a fun life as a couple. When the kids left for college, we were still solid because we had a ton of fun together and loved new adventures. He doesn’t always understand this new Instagram situation, neither of us do lol. We are just rolling with it and trying to embrace and enjoy all that is coming from it.

The videos of you and your friend Candy in Target (or really any department store for that matter) – are pure gold. How do you create this content with a straight face and what are the craziest responses you have gotten while trying on your outfits during these outings?

Candy is absolutely hilarious, and I love anything we do together. She is very confident in her own skin and super funny. Try-ons can either be very easy or very awkward, and that depends on where you are. Our last ones at Zara and Macy’s were easy because we were largely ignored by the sales staff. We often make a mess but always clean up after ourselves. Places like Anthropologie and Nordstrom are harder because their sales staff is more attentive, and we don’t want to add extra work or make fun of things they are trying to style for us. We crack up but will reshoot until we get it “just right.”

Have you always lived in Colorado? If so, what do you love most about it and what could you live without?

I grew up in Colorado, went to Connecticut College, came back, then moved to San Francisco for a few years, then lured Captain Big Shot back to Denver, where we have stayed. I love Colorado. I love the mountains, the smells, the seasons, and the blue sky. The people are outdoorsy and friendly. There’s a ton to do here, and I find real comfort in our mountains. I used to work at a dude ranch in the summers, which is one of my favorite times in my life. I love the people who live in small towns and how they approach life. I could live without traffic and crime.

Roger (your emotional support mannequin) and the doctor’s visits – from plastic surgery to orthopedic concerns…Did you just wake up one day and say “let’s bring him in to see the doctor” or was there a pre-conversation with the doctors? Tell us how this came about and how on earth you filmed without cracking up?

My mind is a very active place, and it’s always churning. Roger has real medical problems, including a dog eating his nose off and his orthopedic issues (double amputee). I also have good friends who are doctors/surgeons and were game to have an appointment with Roger. They were dead pan KINGS, and the only person who broke during those scenes was my videographer Captain Big Shot. I couldn’t break the ortho surgeon; everything I threw at him, he took seriously and came back. That was my main note to them, pretend this is a real patient and take it seriously!!

We can’t seem to get rid of the micro shorts or underwear as pants. The other trends we will always see are ridiculous jean mutations and, honestly, just bonkers absurdity with outrageous price tags. It’s these runway creations that keep me going.

Name four fun facts about you that we might not know.

-I worked at a women’s prison in Connecticut.

-I won the Colorado State Open as a 3.0 tennis player (got me to 3.5 as a result).

-I call Bingo

-I am in a bowling league with my mom and 82-year-old Aunt Dot, we are called the “Bowl Movements”.

You really do have a knack for creating/sewing/bedazzling. Tell us if this skill has always been around or if it’s something you developed for your content creation?

I learned sewing basics from my mom. While I do not have great skills, I just have a willingness to go for it. People think I can make gowns, and I cannot. What I can do, is create something for the 6 seconds I need for an Instagram reel. I love anything creative and find it relaxing to work on a project or make something. I try to create opportunities for my friends to gather and create things as well… Dateline NBC murder binders, feather earrings or hat bands, collages etc.

Peaches in sparkly tee

Speaking of the Dateline NBC Binder. Please tell us what prompted you to create this masterpiece, how it has evolved, and what other tabs we might expect you to add in the future?

I love my Dateline NBC Binder as it’s an ever-evolving active journal of sorts. I started it as I was musing on how redundant the photos are on actual Dateline episodes and how they often follow a similar pattern. So, I thought it would be smart to get some good photos and basic information together in one place. Then it evolved.

When something bothers me, I add it and then I don’t have to think about it again (a la Titanic submersibles or P. Diddy). I have an active mind, and it helps me to document such things. My “on my radar” and “things I’m monitoring” tabs are my favorite because I can put something like “who killed JonBenet” in there and do research to see where we are. I am about to update my “affairs” tab as I think it’s getting stale.

You like to say that your real-life style is Kenny Rogers t-shirts and trucker hats – give us your top 10 fashion essentials/accessories in your everyday life.

-A great pair of cowboy boots, awesome buckle, and a fabulous cowboy hat with a huge feather (these three are mandatory).

-Bandanas (neck…on a purse…in your hair)

-Big earrings (I love beaded earrings & feather earrings)

-A great pair of jeans

-Any of my Kenny, Dolly, or Wynonna Judd related clothing

-A willingness to not give an F if someone likes or doesn’t like what you’re wearing. Your attitude about your choices is important. WEAR WHAT YOU LIKE.

-Anything with a horseshoe on it. I’m currently in love with my new horseshoe with a peach necklace and turquoise that I collaborated with a Santa Fe designer to make.

-Turquoise accents (jewelry…bracelet, earrings, necklace, belt buckle)

-Anything that your grandmother had that can be repurposed as unique, amazing, or whimsical!!

-Long skirts

-Cute wedge sandals

Tell us about your love of pets, specifically your dolly doodles, Jolene and Gipper. Did you grow up with dogs and has your family always had a pet (or two?)

I did grow up with dogs, and we always got them at the local shelter. Because my husband and daughter have terrible allergies, we had to turn to labradoodles. Jolene was the first influencer in the family @jolenethedollydoodle, named after Dolly, hence the “dolly doodle” moniker. I LOVE my dogs, and they are getting older, which makes me sad. Gipper is one of the loves of my life.

I am having a great time, but I would remind everyone that I do not show the sad or hard parts of my life if they are personal to other family members. Like everyone else, we have very challenging things that go on that I can’t share. Regarding the fashion brands, I do tag most of them in my posts, and no one pays attention to me. Actually, I recreated a shark look on a runway in Germany, and that designer LOVED my recreation and reposted it. He also offered to make the design for my dogs. The best thing that happens is when a different brand like Wrangler says, “hey it looks like you’re struggling with jeans, let us send you some of ours.” I think that is genius marketing and I appreciate when that happens!

Do you have any sort of a fitness routine or diet that you follow?

Yes, I do Orange Theory 2-3 times a week, and I play tennis (both singles and doubles).

And now for a couple of serious questions (they don’t have to have serious responses) that we ask each Ageless Style feature:

If you could give your younger self any words of advice, what would they be?

It’s the same advice I give my kids and other young people. Just be yourself. Like what you like, be different (vs. trying to be like everyone else). It’s the quirky parts of you that make you cool.

Share your words to live by:

Stay strong. Ride the waves and know that there’s always a solution.

    1. Hi Judy

I know you’re a strictly fashion-post kind of gal! But we also like to embrace aging with a healthy dose of humor, style, confidence, and grace. Many of us at this stage in life relate to Peaches and her lighthearted take on some of the fashion world’s more ridiculous trends. She makes us laugh—and reminds us that aging is a celebration.

  4. Good evening Cindy!
Peaches is AMAZING! I am a huge fan of her videos. She is creative, hilarious, and irreverent. Fashion these days has certainly taken some “interesting” turns, and it is nice to see someone acknowledge that some of it is non-sense and unwearable and downright scary.
    Have a great night!

  10. Oh my God – between Peaches and Celeste Barber, I may never stop laughing!!! 🤣 😂
    Thanks for the intro!

      1. Celeste Barber is mildly amusing and raised a tremendous amount of money for the Bushfire appeal a few years ago. But her latest lark of standing in the streets of Paris dressed only in her underwear was a cultural cringe and not funny.

  11. Thanks for sharing Cindy! This is the first I have heard of Peaches and LOVE her! Definitely will follow her on insta!
