Today I am partnering with Coyuchi and I am sharing my master bedroom and their fabulous organic linen chambray sheets

organic linen chambray sheets

Have you ever tried linen sheets? To be honest I have always been curious about the benefits of linen sheets. When Coyuchi asked me to pick something from their line, I knew I wanted to give them a try.  Why?

#1 linen is highly absorbent. Due to its molecular structure, it can absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture before ever feeling damp! (hey all you ladies out there, myself included, who are still having  the dreaded hot flashes you know what I am talking about). My husband is always hot so together we wreak havoc on sheets!

#2 It gets softer with each wash. Because of its unique properties, linen gets softer, and shinier with wear.

#3 It is temperature regulating. It regulates the skin-air heat exchange like no other fabric.  It is cool in the summer and cozy in winter.

#4 It’s Hypoallergenic (my husband has allergies). Due to its unique properties, linen sheets are a wonderful option for those with skin disorders or sensitivities.

#5 It’s considerably stronger than cotton.  If properly cared for it can last for decades even if your yellow lab sleeps on your bed.

#6 It is a good environmental choice. It needs very little irrigation when grown, and it is minimally processed and biodegradable.

#7 Linen is resistant to bacteria, fungus, dust mites, and is naturally insect repellent. Beau sleeps on our bed so this is another plus!

The Coyuchi linen sheets come in all of these pretty colors. If the linen are too expensive, all of their sheets are organic and beautifully constructed.  You might want to try a less expensive option.

I compared these sheets (weight and softness) to a couple of more reasonable options whose names I won’t mention. There was no comparison in weight or softness.  That being said they are an investment. I am planning to change out all of my sheets eventually.

Now as promised some shots of my master bedroom. It hasn’t changed since our project design post on bed styling, chair makeovers, and mantle styling. Our bedroom is large so changing anything can be a major expense. I did add this inexpensive rug (Beau digs and scratches them) linked in the shop the look below.

This tavern table is a favorite that we found at an antique shop in Savannah on a vacation several years ago. The lamp was handmade in Mexico many years ago.  The lampshade was Pottery Barn no longer available but I have linked similar.

On the left side of the bed is an old work table from Pennsylvania.  Can you spot Beau’s feet sticking out from under the bed? For some reason, he loves that spot.

As you know I am a huge linen fan.  All of my bedding and my curtains are linen. The rods are pottery barn linked below.

This area is home to one of our favorite pieces.  The antique kas was a gift from Steve’s brother for building his home back in the 70’s. It came from a dear friend’s shop in Los Gatos.  The baskets are antique New England Indian baskets. The sconces were made in Mexico many years ago. The chairs are old that have been slipcovered in an inexpensive ticking.  These are the only chairs in our house that are not indoor-outdoor fabric (possibly a mistake). The slipcovers are by Katie Baker Slipcovers.  Don’t look too closely at the one on the left it looks like Beau has made himself comfortable there a couple of times. Pillows are custom made.

This is the sitting area in the master bedroom. I added the same rug in a smaller size (note it isn’t scratched up Beau never enters this area). This photo was taken by Patrick Tregenza.

Most of my accessories are one of a kind that I have sourced from antique shops, flea markets, Etsy and eBay. The coffee table came from Dovetail (no longer available). The chair was a junk shop find that was recovered.  The loveseat is lee industries from at least 15 years ago. The wing chair was a junk shop find in it’s second recovering.

That concludes the tour of my master suite.  I have tried to link anything that is not one of a kind below.

Beau tested. Beau approved! I am such a sucker for his beau-tiful , thoughtful gazes…and the feet under the bed. Like my mother before me, I was an early menopause (like 39!) girl and still working—meaning I need to get some sleep! I remember nights of going through several nightgowns and finally said why bother and just started out naked! These sheets would have been wonderful. I have said my husband evolved from a St Bernard since he used to sweat buckets. I mentioned these sheets to him yesterday and he is intrigued. Love the fact they have Euro sham covers. I love my iron sleigh bed, but I keep the shams on at night so we don’t accidentally hang ourselves between the rails! Your bedroom is a charming repose. I think Beau is on the nose with that one.

Beautiful room Cindy! All of your pieces are wonderful and so perfect for your home. I really love linen sheets too but I’m a fan of really crisp ironed percale sheets too. ;))

Beautiful room! You have taken such a large space and made it cozy and comfortable. And you matched it all to Beau! To me a dog is the best accessory in home decor.

  4. Shelly Freebeck says

Absolutely beautiful. I’m adding linen sheets to my bucket list. Couple of quick questions, I have the split king bed so I need 2 xl twin sheets and a king flat sheet.
Can be challenging to find. Any suggestions? Also, where did you find your dust ruffle?
Lastly, how does your rug feel on bare feet? As always, thanks for the inspirations!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Shelly
My dust ruffle was custom made. As you can tell the bed is not standard in any way. Your bedding is a bit of a challenge. I would contact Coyuchi. They have great customer service. If they can’t help you I would try Etsy. They will custom make almost anything. They would be a good source for a dust ruffle as well.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Of course you are already all over linen sheets. I am totally on board. I have no idea how it took me so long to figure it out!

  8. Sandra Sallin - Apart From My Art says

Love your eye. Your room looks so inviting. I did buy some linen sheets but now they’re mixed up with the rest of the sheets and I can’t figure it all out. That lavender linen tunic looks beautiful on you. Love your sitting room also. I’ very impressed that you found items on ebay. I use ebay but never thought of it for home accessories.. Smart woman.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Oh Sandra don’t tell me you are afflicted with my disease…disorganiztion?? Now I like you even more! That tunic is actually gray it was the light at the end of the day…need to get photographed that time of day more often!

I never knew what I was missing before we had Coyuchi linen chambray sheets!!!

You look adorable in the linen tunic (kurta as they say in India). Great color on you.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Thanks to you Mary Ann for the connection. I am completely sold on the line. I am so glad you asked me to join you!!

Cindy, your bedroom is stunning, especially because of the sitting room complete with fireplace! So cosy and inviting. Thanks for the education on linen sheets. I had no idea of their many benefits and will definitely have to give them a try. They really look luxurious and I love the colors they come in! I also love that tunic you’re wearing and the view behind you is amazing!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Celia I was always curious about linen sheets because I love linen clothing. You are going to need to learn to love linen in your new digs! Wrinkles don’t bother me and I love the breathability…I admit I am sold!

  12. Karen Bunch says

    Cindy,
Your room looks lovely and inviting. I’ve wondered about linen sheets myself. It seems everyone loves them. My reservation is wrinkles. I would hate to have to iron sheets. 🙂
I’ll be curious to hear some time in the future how you’ve loved them!
    Karen

    • Cindy Hattersley says

They do wrinkle Karen but I am kind of wrinkly as well so I don’t mind. I am not about to iron sheets either. I love the breathability.
