Must-Have Inexpensive Hair Care Tool for Beautiful Hair and More

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! Today I am joining my pals Annie and Mary Ann for our Sunday Fab Five. I am featuring a Must-Have Inexpensive Hair Care Tool for Beautiful Hair and More, including healthy noodle bowls, outfit of the week, how to blow dry your hair properly and more Sunday fun.

NOODLE BOWLS FROM VIEW FROM THE GREAT ISLAND

Raise your hand if you are ready for healthy eating after all of the wonderful comfort food of the holidays. Sue from The View from the Great Island’s post 15 Lucky Noodle Bowls for the New Year caught my eye. I can’t decide which one to try first.

A FABULOUS HAIR CARE TOOL THAT WON’T BREAK THE BANK

If you have hair similar to mine you are going to love me for this one. I had been reading about this brush/dryer all year. When my hairdryer bit the dust, and I couldn’t decide which one to buy, I bought this to use with the terrible hairdryer that was left. I have fairly thick shoulder-length hair and I normally use a round brush with my hairdryer and it is a long process.

EDITORS NOTE: Several people have asked about the above skirt. It is an old free people skirt (I found on Ebay several years ago) which I have not been able to find anywhere. Their latest version can be found on Ebay here. Amazon has some inexpensive leopard skirt options here. I am linking several similar here. The Ganni which is on sale is the one I would buy now. I am actually tempted to buy myself. I like it better than mine.

SHOP LEOPARD SKIRT

With this little gem, I dry my hair partially and finish up with this. They are so reasonable I bought one for both my daughter and daughter-in-law. My daughter says she doesn’t even need a dryer. The one step Revlon Dryer and Volumizer is our new best friend.

I love this new hair tool! It’s so easy to use and makes my hair noticeably softer and smoother. Thanks so much for your recommendation!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Linda

Isn’t it the best $30 bucks you ever spent? I use is every single day. I don’t know why I didn’t head the reviews sooner. So happy you too love it.

  2. KAREN S SINK says

Hi Cindy! That leopard skirt & leather jacket is exactly an outfit I would love to wear. My closet probably has too many animal prints but I just feel good in it. You look fantastic and so does your hair!

  3. Francesca B. says

Love your post Cindy and your gorgeous style !! Noodle bowls was all l would crave when l was pregnant and luckily there was a great one just by the hospital after all the visits so l will definitely check that out. Just bought a lovely Gianni leopard print top reduced at Nordstrom Rack doing a happy day. A very Happy and healthy 2022 to you and yours.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Nordstrom Rack has some of the best buys out there! Way to go Francesca! Love hearing that!

  4. Connie says

I have thick curly wavy hair and no patience ! Have used this tool but lately have been doing Velcro rollers. May try the rollers on top and Revlon dryer for rest.
Love your style in fashion and home decor.

    • Rachael says

Connie, I have that same hair, and also no patience – I completely forgot about velcro rollers! I got my daughter the Revlon tool for Christmas, I’m going to try your idea while she’s home.

Cindy thanks for yet another wonderful post, Happy New Year!

      • Cindy Hattersley says

        Hi Rachel

Happy New Year and I use velcro rollers at the crown of my hair as well….that is when I am not too lazy!!

  5. Gray Maher says

I have the banana republic skirt which is great – I think I would wear yours more though – more casual.
I style my hair like you do and it takes FOREVER. Thanks for that brush dryer! I have to pin half of it up and do it i sections. I will definitely try it. And that oil – I stopped using product on my hair, it pulled it down. But it gets more and more damage and flyaway hair.
Love the post and happy new year new blogging friend!

  6. Karen B. says

What great-looking outfits and separates. Thank you for trying to locate some of the older items.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday celebration.
    xo,
    Karen B.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Karen

Happy New Year! Thanks for always being such a great contributor here on the blog!

  7. Wren says

Hi Pal (I’m going to use that too!).
I don’t even remember when I stumbled onto your blog but I think towards the beginning of lockdown. So glad I did and I look forward to the times you post each week.
The hair tool might be for me if I could make up my mind about growing it out. It starts to get just a little shaggy, the curls want to pop up, and I wimp out and have it cut short again.
I know the new year is going to be bringing even more new things for you and when you’re ready, we’ll all get to follow! Wishing you and your family all the best.

  8. Lynne says

    Hi Cindy!

I love my dryer brush, too! I think you and I have similar naturally wavy – curly hair. ( I was one of those teens in the 60’s who tried ironing my hair.)
Using this tool when it is nearly dry is life changing! Your hair always looks stunning.

In my capsule wardrobe I have three skirts . . . a comfortable black knit, a Leopard print much like yours and that fabulous CP Shades neutral you turned me on to a couple years ago!

Happy New Year to you and yours! May it be best – blessed!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Pal!

Oh my god Lynne I swear we were sisters from another mother. Yes of course I ironed my hair. I also “set” my hair on Orange Juice cans and slept on them! Were we nuts or what? I am so happy you found that CP shades skirt. It is a winner isn’t it? I sure hope we can meet in person one day. Steve and I need to head up your way and do the wine country sometime, maybe we could meet for lunch somewhere. Or better yet you come visit!!

  9. Shelly says

Hi Cindy, thanks for the great post. Bought this new hair tool several months ago, not too sure if I totally like it. I really like how it smooths out the sides and back of my hair but it gives no volume to the top, I don’t like that. I’m like you, I usually use a round brush and hair dryer but it takes some time, alot more than the new tool. Still on the fence with it. I also have been having problems when I click on your website, your table of contents covers half the page whenever I try to read something? Have you heard any of your other readers have this problem? Thanks and happy New Year!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Shelly

You have a good point about the top. My hairdresser taught me to put in like four of those velcro rollers on top. I think I still need that. Shelly usually if someone has that problem they need to clean out their cache. It has worked for everyone who has asked. Let me know if that works. I sure want you to be able to read it. I appreciate you making me aware.

    Cindy:
Happy Funday Sunday of the New Year.
I so must try this Hair dryer Brush, tho, have not used an blow dryer or any heated tools, on this Crazy Unruly Wavy mess of hair. Just embrace it.

I Love Love the outfit of the week.
    Yesssss please Sundance and RL❤️❤️

    Ya pic is Beautifullllll,

    Thank you

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Karen, I have crazy unruly hair too. I get a keratin treatment a few times a year. It does make it flatter which I don’t like though. Isn’t hair a pain? I hate messing with it too. That is part of the problem.

      • Linda says

I bought the Revlon air dry tool! Thank you for featuring it. I have thick hair that’s getting more and more “silver threads” in it which are dry and kinky. I use Oi Oil (Amazon or a salon) and it’s the best I have ever used.

  11. Homebeforedark says

The noodle bowls look delish and just in time for our first snow and a week of temps sometimes below 0! We’re having a January trifecta of Omicron, cold temps and snow. Noodle bowls it is! With my pixie cut, I threw away my hair dryer. Air dry is the most gentle dry. I simply don’t have the patience to let my hair grow long again. On you it is quite beautiful. Can’t wait to hear the next part of your journey!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Patricia
Wow you just got your first snow. Is that unusual? You are so lucky you can pull off a pixie. I wish I could. I am jealous!

  12. debra @ 5th and state says

once again you have me running to Sephora, and need a leopard skirt, never heard of Ganni until now……

you’re the best! happiest of 2022

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Debra

I know you have similar hair to mine. I think you will like it. I can’t remember how I found Ganni. Many of their things are too hip for us old ladies but they have a few that are really good for us in my humble opinion! When are we going to go to Round Top again?

  13. Mary Ann Pickett says

Yay…you got the hairbrush dryer. One word of caution is that Alie’s hairstylist friend, Matt, said it was ruining her hair and to use it at that medium setting…and also to do what you are doing and let it airdry partially (I do that too).

LOVE your outfit of the week. I want it all.
    Happy New Year, my friend!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

How did I not know you already had it? Or did you tell me and Alzheimers sunk in. I do not use it at the hottest setting. I don’t use any hairdryer that way. But thanks for sharing!

  14. Kim says

Great hair tips! I love the Revlon brush and have been a fan for a long time after reading all the positive reviews. Costco had a sale and bought it for at a greatly reduced price. There is also a smaller version for shorter hair. I also like to alternate blow outs with my other airbrush: JOYYUM 1000W 3-in-1 Hot Air Spin Brush. It spins and gives a more rounded look. Also discovered a hair primer: L’Ange Glass Hair Thermal Blowout Primer. I spritz with the primer first, and then a squirt each of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Relaxing Balm and Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. Really helps for smooth, shiny hair as well as finishing up with the cool air setting on the air brush. P.S. Also a fan of the leopard skirt 😉

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Kim

I never thought to check Costco for the brush. I am going to check out the Joyyum brush. I hope Shelly sees your comment. Thanks for all the good tips. I use Moroccan oil and John Frieda, but I have not been able to find a heat protectant that I love. I will give yours a try. Love it when you ladies share what works!

  15. Annie Diamond says

Cindy! Now we all three have that hair care tool! I used it at MaryAnn’s in October and I came home and ordered one! I let my hair dry naturally and then use that tool! YOUR hair looks like you just walked out of the salon!
Sue’s noodle bowls look gorgeous, don’t they?
    xx

    • Cindy Hattersley says

I can’t believe I did not know you guys had it. I am usually too lazy to get my hair that good-looking in the back I have to admit. I need to be better about that!

  16. sally says

Hi there! Happy New Year! Love everything here but passed right out over the leopard skirt. Can you please tell me where I might find it? I never wear skirts anymore, but would love to wear this!
Thanks for loads of great inspiration 🙂

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Sally

I could not find that particular skirt anywhere and I am a pretty good sleuth. I actually purchased it on Ebay (where I buy most of my clothes) a few years ago. I did link the Gannie which I actually think is prettier in my opinion and a few other similar ones. I will email you as well in case you don’t check back for comments!
