Friday Fun Stuff

Hi Everyone.  I have been busy at the lake enjoying our little Summer Harper and entertaining guests so I thought I would pop in with some quick Friday Fun Stuff. Summer loves her cousins Margot and Caroline.

Summer’s Aunt  & Uncle brought this amazing assortment of cheeses from the cowgirl creamery. Absolutely the most delicious assortment of goodness imaginable.  Sorry Weight Watchers see you next week!

You can find most of the ingredients on Amazon.  The amazing Red Hawk CheeseHoney Goat CheeseToma Point Reyes, and Mt. Tam (the herb crusted only available seasonally on site) artisanal salami with Dalmatia Fig Spread, artisanal clover honey, candied pecans, and rustic bakery flatbreads and carrs water crackers

We made these burgers with bacon jam (via the Chunky Chef) that Yvonne from The Stone Gable blog recommended.  If you are going to eat a burger indulge.  Make it a great burger.  Yvonne always has fabulous recipes. I simplified the recipe by substituting my favorite Terrapin Ridge Hot Pepper Bacon Jam (at Amazon). I always keep this in my pantry.  I also used it for a simple brie appetizer that I wrote about in my Simple Summer Entertaining Tips post last summer.

  1. You have some seriously cute kids there, Cindy! I became grandmother 3 years ago and it certainly is a game changer, in a fantastic way!

I have to check out the jam as well as those cheeses. I really didn’t know Amazon carried anything like that. Makes me happy that I’m a Prime Member!!!

I love the kitchen feature. I have pretty much the same open shelving at my lakehouse. My carpenter was able to give a rustic look to regular wood by staining and roughing it up. The process in ‘de-bugging’ real barn is not quick and quite expensive, so I was super happy with the results. I shared some recent pictures of my kitchen on my last post.

    Enjoy your summer!

    1. You are so right Jane about the debuggging process. My husband used old beams from barns in Pennsylvania in construction 20 years ago before it was “chic”. It was a process but a beautiful result! I was happily surprised about the cheese as well. That bacon jam is a great staple to have on hand. I am never without it!

    2. Thanks Jane! I wrote a reply a couple days ago and apparently it did not post! You are so right about the debugging being a process but it is so worth it! My husband useed reclaimed barn beams in his construction projects many years ago before it was chic and they had to get everything debugged!!

  2. Little Summer is growiing so fast !! And, look how much her cousins love her. I have been looking back through some of your posts and am absolutely ashamed that I have missed so much. Believe me, I’m BACK !!
Thank you for your lovely visit, my precious friend !!

    1. I know Marsha! No worries I have done the same with yours. It is hard for all of us to keep up with our old blogging pals!

  3. Cindy – You may have just changed my life! Mt Tam is my favorite cheese. All my nieces expect it when dropping by Auntie’s. When we moved from California last year I was unable to find it here in Washington. Quelle horreur! This was especially troubling when the nieces the trek from California. It NEVER occurred to me it would be in Amazon.com. Amazing. It’s been a rough adjustment from CA to the PNW, but this Mt. Tam-on-Amazon thing could be.a game changer. My husband would be really happy if I didn’t‘t Insist on selling the house and moving ‘home.’ Summer is adorable by the way, and the picture with her older cousins is precious.

    1. I was surprised as well. Amazon surprises me so often! So glad it helped you out! Your home is so beautiful there but I get it I don’t think I could leave California. We have our problems but the weather is sure not one of them!

  6. Yum! Between the cheese plate and the burger, I’m hungry! I love Cowgirl cheeses. We can get them at several markets in Southern Cal.

  8. Summer is so adorable! Love the hair. A big YES! to Cowgirl Creamery cheeses. So glad our local co-op carries some of them. Thanks to you, I, too, keep the bacon jam on hand. Just so you know the jam loves to dance with Mt. Tam.

    1. Thanks for the sweet comment about Summer …we think she is pretty special! That bacon jam is worth it’s weight in gold for a quick appetizer isn’t it?!
