Decorating a Difficult Space Part II
Here is the finished room. This room had a lot of design issues and is probably one of my trickiest room arrangements to date. The bonus is it has the prettiest views in the entire house and we absolutely love spending time here now. This is our new seating area.
As you can see we have beautiful views of the rose garden and surrounding hills from the french doors.
and views of the pool and patio area from the windows….
I think every space needs a mix of old and new. You can read my post on how to get the collected look here.
Two landscape paintings by Pat Huber you can see more of her work here
Can you guess what is behind the old shutters?
Another painting by local artist (and friend) Chris Johnson of Carmel River Beach.
On Friday I will report on the issues with this room (there were many), the before and afters, and sources.

It looks fabulous! The views from the comfy chairs are wonderful! I cannot wait to hear more about your design process.
So pretty Cindy! I especially love your interesting fabric choices. And your garden looks fabulous BTW!!!

Karen thank you so much. Maybe one day we can meet for lunch with Elizabeth once she returns from England!
Personally, I think rooms and many other things that have problems result in a more interesting result. Love the views!
You are absolutely right. I kind of pride myself on difficult furniture arrangements, but this one had me scratching my head for awhile…I do love it now though…Thanks for the encouragement!!

beautiful light pouring through the windows to rest on the soft colors. a mecca for pillow love. let's see, read a book? binge watch some Netflix series? a cup of tea while dreaming of new plantings in that lovely garden? Pandora World Beat playing while I read your blog? or maybe just a well deserved nap? yes please…..

Cindy your room is so inviting, I love how it looks like it took years to get it to look like this, a beautiful process unfolding, the textures, subtle patterns and interesting pieces curated beautifully. Love it and your view is great!!
Thank you so much Kathy Sue, we sure are enjoying it!
I have to agree with Marty. the room is terrific and so comfortable. The view that you have looking out the windows is amazing. Where do you live at? I know it's CA, but looks like you are in the desert.
