The Collected Look via the One Room Challenge

People often ask what is a Collected Look? To me, simply put,  a collected look has items that are gathered and found that work together to form a cohesive mix without getting matchy matchy. One of my most read posts is The Collected Look and How to Get it  You might want to visit it for a more in-depth description.  Last weekend I finally had time to take a peek at the fabulous One Room Challenge.  As always there was plenty of inspiration.  What caught my attention was how so many of the spaces embraced the collected style. Let’s take a look at The Collected Look via the One Room Challenge.

If you have always wanted your own office space but think you don’t have space, check out this brilliant built-in office nook by Homemade by Carmona. I love the moody blue and the character gained by the vintage accessories.

Note the clever pencil holder, a repurposed vintage candle mold.

House of Funk pulled off the collected look in this witty kids room makeover.  Love the collected gallery wall and the bed nook.

Dorsey Designs achieved a modern clean collective look in this basement makeover. I love the mainly black and white scheme accented by the addition of texture in the swing and baskets.  The texture takes the edge off the black and white.

The brilliant wood wall (created by plyboard) covers a utility closet and can be removed for access. The coffee table was constructed of repurposed materials. Aren’t these guys inventive?

This charming white kitchen by House of Jade is both fresh and collected. The art on the wall and the textural stools adds personality and warmth.

This witty nursery by Vintage Revivals has the ability to grow with the child. What little girl wouldn’t love this space?

Check out the before of this kitchen by Murphy Design and you will find that adding a gorgeous range, a reclaimed wood ceiling and some vintage accessories really stepped up this kitchen’s game.

And last but not least, our friend Sherry Hart once again refreshed several spaces in her sister’s house.  She added thrift store finds and repurposed her sisters own furniture and accessories to create this light filled collected living room.

Since you could view the office and the dining room from the living room Sherry redid both of those spaces as well. The pretty vintage etagere was a thrift store find.

Sherry is a master at creating stunning vignettes.  Here home goods blue and white resting on a thrift store find. Brilliant!
