Seven Fall Tablescapes Your Guests Will Love

Next week Mary Ann, Annie, and I are joining a great group of bloggers for a fall tablescape and favorite thanksgiving dish. I thought if you are looking for inspiration in the meantime I would share some of my favorite fall tablescapes from the past. Let’s take a look at Seven Fall Tablescapes Your Guests will Love.

My absolute favorite time to decorate is Fall. Before Covid, when we lived in our former home Thanksgiving was a big event. We would entertain between 20-25 people and enjoy every minute of it. I prefer decorating my table with a mixture of natural elements (flowers, gathered greens, vegetables, and fruit) with a variety of textures.

SEVEN FALL TABLESCAPES YOUR GUESTS WILL LOVE

Black and White Fall Tablescape

This is one of my most recent tables pre-covid. I always feel like some of the best creations come from the least expected. I used a scarf on the table, placed an old fence board down the center, and decorated it with greens from the yard, gifted persimmons, hedgeapples, pumpkins, and shimmery votive holders.

You can read more about the details of the entire event Cyber Monday Faves for my Own Home here. The napkins are World Market. I will link similar below picture. Goblets are very old Pier One.

The place cards were made on Canva, a simple design that you could easily emulate or improve upon yourselves.

Block Print Fall Tablescape

Another favorite from last year I outside in front of the fireplace of our former home. I had a lot of fun with this one. As you can see it was a gloomy day so the colors aren’t as vibrant as they should be.

I think it was the covid influence, I went all out with pattern and an ebullient arrangement. The Tablecloth is from Etsy, as are the napkins. They will be linked below the photo.

The bouquet is made up of foraged leaves, sunflowers, foraged twigs, and a few faux items from Hobby Lobby. Don’t be afraid to add faux if it looks real. Can you spot the faux? The little green furry-looking balls are faux but I liked the added texture that they provided.

The plates are old from Pier 1, as is the glassware. All available items will be lined at the bottom of the photos.

Cinderella Pumpkin Fall Tablescape

The large table in my former dining room often played host to an array of pumpkins and gourds. In 2015 it was an array of cinderella pumpkins in soft colors complemented by leopard napkins.

Pumpkins in a Box Fall Tablescape

Five or six years ago my friend Roxanne (you can see her beautiful kitchen remodel here) got tired of me borrowing her long box made of old fence boards. Her sweet husband Steve made one for me.

Here it is filled with pumpkins and dried sunflower heads and wheat, and a few preserved leaves.

The glassware is no longer available but similar linked below, plates are from Anthropologie, napkins from Pottery Barn years ago, but similar linked below. Monogrammed Napkins by Trish from Cottage by Design.

Colorful Fall Tablescape

This fall tablescape from the post Five Tablescapes you can Try Before Thanksgiving is one of my all-time favorites.

I love the mix of colors and textures here. The dusty miller adds contract in both color and texture to the mix of hydrangea, sunflowers, pomegranates, and leaves.

The linens are from Pottery Barn no longer available. I used a mixture of feathers, yarrow, and leaves to accent the place setting. I have always loved this one. Hopefully, I can create something just as interesting next week.

Vintage Wicker Bottle Tablescape

This tablescape is a perfect example of what I was saying that utilizing what you have can sometimes create the most magical tablescape. This was our pool table in our former game room that we would cover with a sheet of plyboard, bring in our outdoor chairs and it always ended up being a favorite spot for many

I covered the table with a burlap table skirt and layered it with a hide rug. The tableware is an old Wedgewood design. You can find the hunting scene tableware on Replacements herehttps://rstyle.me/+aWtRp1mvRdj6-wtcUYIi6Q. I will link all available items below the photo.

Simple Natural Fall Tablescape

This is another oldie but goodie created for an overflow table outside that has always been a personal favorite. Again the photography is poor, but it is a perfect example of a simple arrangement of fall leaves and hydrangea. The simple linen napkins were tied with a simple ribbon and the tablecloth is an old Pottery Barn paisley that I still use and love. I used it for the bar table at Mary Ann’s birthday. It is faded but well-loved. You could also substitute a paisley throw from Etsy or Ebay. OKA has a pricey but beautiful one that I have linked below the photo.

The takeaway here is you don’t have to have expensive florals to create pretty tablescapes. Every single arrangement in this post was composed of mostly foraged materials, except the pumpkins. If you have the space, and sufficient water, save your seeds and plant your own Cinderella pumpkins. Use what you have in new ways. Don’t be afraid to layer scarves, throws, or blankets for similar looks. Use your imagination and have fun!

I hope you enjoyed Seven Fall Tablescapes Your Guests Will Love. You might also enjoy Fall Tablescapes Rooted in Nature. I would love to hear about your fall tables and how you will be celebrating this year.

I absolutely love all the looks. I am waiting for a new round dining room table to arrive.
That will present me with an opportunity for some new looks, as my current table is rectangle.
Please continue to post options for both types of tables. I would especially like to see some lower height options.

    Cindy,
Wow! I knew I loved your style and this post should be in a book on how to Entertain.
I think the first time I found your site you were sharing some tablescapes done for an event for your daughter (before she was married). You never disappoint.
I look forward to the upcoming table decor event.
    xo,
    Karen

  3. Andrea says

Love all of your tables, but I think the black & white is my favorite. I think I’ll try that one this year. What a fun post.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Andrea

As I always say the extra tables where you use the leftovers always turn out the best. I hope it works out for you!

  4. Wren says

How to pick my fav? Each one is fabulous but I think I would chose the one with the wicker bottles for shear difference. I love the muted tones with just the olive branches interspersed. The chargers repeat the natural fiber look as well as your chairs.
Now I’m all fired up with inspiration but will be a guest at my daughter and SIL’s for TG. I am having some friends for dinner in a week so will channel you to help me do something extra-ordinary.
    As always, you nailed it!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Wren

Thank you so much! We will not be hosting this year either, but next week I will be coming up with one! Enjoy your friends!

Beautiful tablescapes! I long for a traditional Holiday with a Beautiful table! I miss those days.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

I am right there with you Glynda. Hopefully next year. Although our relatives are planning a huge shebang outdoors this year!

  6. Gayle Miller says

Cindy, your outdoor sunflower arrangement inspired my faux arrangement of the last days of summer. (I sent you the pic.). Those pics by your outdoor fireplace are probably my favorite. Love all that color and pattern energy!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Gayle

I had fun with that one. A little outside my wheelhouse but fund during covid!!

This is a such as wonderful post! So many inspiring ideas as well as your references to where similar items are available if we don’t already own what we need or can’t get it from our yards. Will be saving this post for inspiration throughout the seasons.

  9. Elizabeth@pineconesandacorns says

Cindy each and every table looks amazing!!!! What I love is that you repeat the same elements, natural fibers, burlap, flowers, pumpkins, gourds, etc and yet every single table is unique and so very special. I am sure that your guests loved it.

    • Heidi says

      Hi Cindy,
You’re so good at this! Each table is unique, so many special elements come together to make everything look really special. I love setting the table for special events and will keep some of your ideas in mind!
