Happy New Year- My Ten Most Popular Posts

Joan from “For the Love of a House” does an end of the year post titled “Please Leave Your Calling Card”. You can read her post here.  This is such a lovely way to connect with one’s readers.  We share a little piece of our lives with you I feel so fortunate that I have heard from many of you via email or instagram but I would love to hear from those of you who don’t leave comments.  You can remain anonymous but let me know where you are from and or your age.  My top ten posts according to you my readers are as follows. If you are new here and haven’t read them you can just click on the link.

#1 Over 55 Decor-Ten Tips for Achieving Timeless Interiors

Many of my readers are in this age group. We don’t want our homes to look like “Granny Lives Here”. We want stylish interiors but we are “over” trendy looks that don’t stand the test of time.

#2-From the Land -A Book to be Savored

If you haven’t added this book to your library you are missing out.  It is a family favorite in our home amongst males and females. We are all still enamored of the American Farmhouse Vernacular.  One of my most popular Pinterest Boards “American Farmhouse Style” illustrates this.  Will this trend continue into 2017?

Happy New Year Cindy! I always look forward to your posts although the is the first time I have responded. Your Over 55 Decor posts are my favorite. I have a collection of antiques that I want to keep and work into an updated look. I am 67 living in Charlotte, NC after having lived in Richmond, Chicago (twice), San Francisco, Calgary, and central PA. After my native NC, I love the Monterey/Carmel area best where my brother and I try to visit every chance we get. If we win the lottery we will move there!

Your post on your difficult relationship with your mother touched home with me as my mother from Minnesota and I had a similar one. I felt like you and I could have long talks about our lives and how we see those relationships now.

    • Cindy says

      Hi Elizabeth
My two nieces reside in the beautiful city of Charlotte. We are very fortunate to live near the beautiful Monterey Peninsula. I would love to have coffee with you on your next visit here!!

    Cindy,
I love your posts on decor, but I also love the posts on fashion and makeup for those of us over 50 (ahem, 60). I'm a native California girl, in fact so is the mister and our two sons. I live in Southern California (Irvine). I've recently retired my blog site but still delight in reading yours and other talented folks out there.
Your region of California is Mr. B and my favorite area. Carmel, the bay area, it doesn't get any better than that.
    xo,
    Karen

    • Cindy says

Oh no you retired your blog!! I can still follow on instagram! I hope you will let me know when you guys come to our area. I would love to have you for dinner or lunch!!

  13. Lori Menke says

I enjoy all your posts – but my favorite would be the Over 55 Decor. I have always leaned more to the traditional styled rooms, but want freshly decorated rooms as well. Antiques are a favorite of mine – the history and stories they have to tell! I am 57 and live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and thanks to designers such as yourself I can educate myself on the "art"' of keeping my home fresh, well designed and welcoming to friends and family. Thank you for sharing your talents in each and every blog post. I also love the fashion posts…those are just plain fun.

    • Cindy says

      Hi Lori

It is so great to hear from you! I am originally from the Midwest and my Uncle Bud who recently passed hailed from Sious Falls! Thanks so much for reading my blog!!

I always enjoy your blog, especially the how-to postings and those on decor. I am 71, live in Santa Cruz near my daughter & her family, including a 2 year old boy who was a delightful surprise for us all (my daughter is 49!) For the first time in nearly 50 years, I live alone and am relishing all aspects of it, including not having to please another person with my home decorating choices. I am an avid gardener & garden writer (am a retired horticulturist) and birder; the 2 activities get me outdoors and moving every day. Happy New Year to you.

    • Cindy says

You sound like my kind of girl!! I too love to garden (though I do not as much as I would like to anymore). My father in law was an avid birder and one of his favorite birding spots was the Elkhorn Slough area. I love the Santa Cruz area and try to get there as often as I can!!

Thank you for your lovely posts all year. My favorite post was how you decorated The Farmers Union for Christmas. I'm going to try to some of your ideas at my house next year. I'm 62 and live in Newnan, Georgia. Born and lived most of my life in the Bay Area. Love antiques but don't want my house to look too dated. Happy New Year!

    • Cindy says

Living in Georgia after the Bay Area must be quite an adjustment. I think the Atlanta area has some of the most beautiful homes and the best decorators in the country. Thank you so much for reading my blog!
