Friday Fun Stuff/ Not so Fun-France, Food and Politics

For some reason this fabulous blog is new to me , and it has me mesmerized.  I have a hard time keeping up on blogs these days but this one draws me in.  If you love France and dream of living there you must read  My French Oasis.  Some people write and post with such ease.  If you haven’t checked it out you will love it.

I don’t often post about Political or Personal stuff but this election has me “gob smacked”.  I am not going to say anything more. Read Elizabeth’s (Pine Cones and Acorns) thoughts here

and the text of an email from a long time friend and “wise old owl” that I received last week.

“I have been a registered Republican for 48 years.   This is no longer my Republican party.   The Republican party, for lack of courage and principle, has made a deal with the devil, and it will burn in hell for what it did not do to stop Trump last fall……too little too late.   Thank you Freedom Caucus, Mitch McConnell and the Tea Party……………………..you have destroyed an American institution.   Condolences to John B. and Paul R. for trying to hold the institution together…………….too many self-serving people in congress who stopped serving their constituents long ago and now need to move on and retire as greeters at Wal-Mart to welcome all the Trump supporters”.

Check out these 30 minute meals from Domino  I made the Tilapia Vera Cruz last week and we loved it.  I skipped the tomato sauce and used whole tomatoes and added lemon slices to the top of the fish.  It was healthy and yummy!

Yes, I am sick to death of this election, and really don't want to see it in my blogs. As soon as I saw that coming I skipped to bottom to comment, and deleted.

i'm so over it all. its just junk, every day, all day. there is NO real talk about the issues, just he said, she said, like two squabbling toddlers. in my humble opinion we are so screwed. i cannot believe that in this {once} great nation these are the two running for the highest elected office in the country. just goes to show where our nation is right now…going to hell in hand basket and quickly! shaking my head in disgust.

The situation is very negative indeed. While we tumble down the rat hole with either candidate i have chosen to ignore the reporting. I can't watch anymore. People I thought I knew have become rabid over this, destroying life long friendships, behaving like spoiled adolescents. None of it good. A brief study of Greek history will show the frightening parallels that we face. Hold on to your britches because no matter who wins…..we all lose!

Cindy, I don't think the political front is so bad. I think Hillary should retire, myself. The Clinton Foundation ALONE is enough reason not to vote for her. Texas is solidly Republican, but with all the people from South of the Texas border it is changing to more & more Democratic, because the Dem's give everything away to gain voters. We are at a cross roads. I don't think Trump will win, but if he did we MIGHT see a citizen businessman who would run the country like a business and not to the benefit of lobbyists, cronies, etc. We'll agree to disagree. Just saying, things are not as bad as you think. Let us pray.

Thank you so much for including me in your favorites for the week. I too am a huge fan of My French Oasis, each post is so beautifully written and a treat to read and see,

As for your friends comment about the Republican party. I would like to add that the representatives used to represent their constituents, nowadays the aim seems to be to get yourself elected and to do whatever you can do to stay there and represent yourself.

I am saddened and disgusted that this election is what we have been reduced to in our country.

Have a great weekend and thank you again.

Cindy, We are all struggling with this election and the negativity. Thanks for passing these thoughts along. I think I need to focus on that yummy-looking Tilapia recipe!
