Berries and Branches Holiday Home Tour Highlights Part Two

Jackie Hubbard and I were very lucky to have had the opportunity to work on this house with several other creative people. The house itself is lovely and has a beautiful view.  I wasn’t going to do the tour this year but when I saw the house I said let me call Jackie.  If she agrees I am in!  The homeowner’s couldn’t have been nicer so it was a pleasure.
Jackie and I decided to do the kitchen, family room, breakfast room and formal dining room  as they are all connected.
Keep in mind both Jackie and I do a “little more” shall I say “decorating” than we would normally do for this event.  The idea is to give the attendees ideas that they can take home and use in their own décor.  This event has become known for a little more glitz than is our style so we have to “up our game” to what is expected.
We loved the owner’s dining room.  When she bought the house the mirrored wall was there and she wasn’t sure she liked it.  She decided to keep it and we love the ambiance it creates.
She has a huge handmade table that is surrounded by Parsons chairs and unexpectedly a bench on one side that she found at  the Alameda Flea Market.
We loved the affect.  We embellished the pretty bench with the wonderful caramel ombre fur throw and pillow from Pottery Barn.

The faux fur placemats are also from Pottery Barn as are the chargers. The Chargers are on sale for $10 right now.  I was really tempted to purchase twelve of those chargers for myself but I held off!! The white plates are from Anthropologie.  The pewter is from my own collection. The little picture frame nametags are from Beverly’s.  Each place setting was highlighted by one of Trish Banner’s beautiful monogrammed napkin and an antique brooch. That is John Robshaw for Duralee’s Chun fabric under the napkin (one of my favorites).

The burlap trees are from World Market.  The silver twig trees from Target. The wonderful pine cones that hang from the back chairs are from Beverly’s. The Santa is from my collection.
These wonderful wreaths came from World Market.  They had a bit of white sparkle that we removed and they look great with the trees on the table.

This is the tree that Jackie and I did in the family room.  We found this great grainsack ribbon at Michael’s and combined it with plaid for the theme in this area.  The tree is embellished with black and white grain sack ribbon, eucalyptus, silver and red ornaments, wood block prints and corrugated metal framed family photos.

The owner had these pretty shutters on either side of the mirror

We dressed them with swags of pomegranates , eucalyptus, fresh greens and plaid ribbon

The fireplace was decked out with my daughter’s antique pack basket filled with greens and faux red berries.

We added some of Pottery Barn’s fun Christmas pillows to their sectional.  Didn’t PB have great Christmas pillows this year?

We layered the Pottery Barn Blake Plaid napkins and tablecloth with some old grain sacks belonging to the owner over a burlap tablecloth in the breakfast nook.

We created this crazy montage on the huge island

The owner’s have one of the most clever laundry rooms I have ever seen. They have two adorable dogs.  Each has their own built in dog bed. Debby & Melody  created wreaths for each “cabin”.  I apologize for the poor pictures.

Debby Meeks and Melody Young did this pretty mantel in the living room

And this clever vignette in the entry

Melody created the Pine Cone Frame around the owner’s cow painting in the guest cottage.  This was one of my favorites…so clever!

She designed this cute “B” tree for the bedroom in the guest house as well

Jill Ray set the outside table with her “famous” pheasant

I hope you enjoyed the tour.  There were so many clever ideas this year I could not begin to cover them all. Come back on Friday for a little holiday giveaway!!
