Decor Trends from High Point Market Part 1

I just returned from the Design Bloggers Tour of High Point Market completely inspired.  In my next three posts, I am going to touch on the trends I spotted. This post will be dedicated to texture.  There was lots of it at High Point.  If you follow me on Instagram you saw this gorgeous mirror from Modern History Home.

The importance of texture was present in nearly every showroom.

A Little Texture “Ed”

Rough or Coarse Texture reflects less light and hence projects “warmer” and can give an item “more weight”

Smooth or Shiny Textures reflect more light and come off “cooler”, make objects feel lighter and more “modern”

Texture is especially important in a neutral space as you know.

Loved this vignette in the Century Furniture Showroom.  Gorgeous texture on the coffee and side tables from their new Casa Bella Collection. The Draven Side Chairs add additional interest.

The Bernhardt showroom was a lesson in the power of texture.  Can I tell you how much I LOVE this console table vignette?  I will take the Kai ottomans (two please) and that fabulous Union Console (to DIE for).  Whoever styled this will you please come to my house?

Check out the combination of surfaces on the Strata Nesting table from Bernhardt.  Texture at it’s best.

Universal Furniture had one of the most creatively styled showrooms.  I found the overall emphasis there was on texture versus pattern and color.

I loved the sleek lines and body-conscious styling of the Lloyd Flanders Havana Collection.  A table and six chairs, please!

The Littman Brands Lighting Showroom (home to Troy Lighting, The Mitzi Collection, and Hudson Valley Lighting) was beautifully designed by Ben Marshall.  There was lots of texture evident in every line.

The EJ Victor showroom was like walking into a designers dream home.  Home to the Kelly Wearstler, Ralph Lauren, Kate Spade, Crypton fabrics and many more.

The combination of textures in this room void of color is a feast for the eyes.  The linen look fabric is by Crypton, a performance fabric that is resistant to pets, kids, food, and wine. I can’t wait to try their fabrics.  You know what a big fan I am of performance fabrics.  Every fabric in my own home is now performance based.

Kelly Wearstler really knows how to rock it doesn’t she? Trust me sinking into this settee was like sliding into a pound of butter, and the cocktail table…textural bliss…

The Mohawk Karastan Showroom was a fun stop.  I didn’t realize one of their collections is made entirely of reclaimed plastic bottles, and they feel like silk! They have been making rugs since the early 1900’s so their display reflected their heritage.

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the tour so professionally executed by Adam Japko and his team @Esteem Media.  It was an honor to be one of the ten bloggers selected and to be part of such a great team.  Check out the other bloggers’ perspectives below.  I know you will enjoy them. They were such a creative bunch.

Follow up High Point posts will focus on Color and Black and White at Market.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

This post was sponsored by High Point Market but the words and opinions are my own.
