A Great White Shirt from Artful Home and Beauty Products for Mature Skin

I am always on the hunt for a great white shirt.  I need to do a new post with all of my favorites soon.  This great shirt from Mona Thalheimer for Artful Home is a great season spanner.  It is lightweight enough for Spring but could be layered under a jacket or vest right now. It also comes in a crisp blue and white stripe. Let’s check out a great white shirt from Artful Home and Beauty Products for Mature Skin.

Lennox Cinched Shirt by Mona Thalheimer . In impeccably tailored poplin, the classic big shirt becomes something entirely extraordinary with updates like a subtle high-low hem and shape-enhancing ties at the waist.

The flattering ties can be adjusted to tie on the sides or brought to the front and tied together. Sadly the gray-haired model had to rely on her husband for this pic.  Please disregard the double chin and other faults! I am wearing the Lennox with their Parker Runaround Sue Straight Leg Jeans.

What new skin products are you loving? Please share.  I have a couple that I have tried and have given a thumbs down, and a couple that I LOVE!  Everyone (including Beth Dijalili  (Ageless Style featuring Beth Dijalili) is touting the benefits of a Vitamin C Serum.  If you are considering one DO YOUR Reserach.  Some of the most highly rated have the lowest amounts of Vitamin C and no vitamin e or hyaluronic acid.  I am trying Cosmetic Skin Solutions .  It had a good price point, and all of the ingredients the experts say are necessary.  So far it is not irritating my skin and it goes on smoothly.

#1 BEST Vitamin C 20% Serum + Ferulic Acid & Hyaluronic Acid For Maximum Anti-Aging! 100% Safe & Effective! Highly Concentrated Solution To Repair, Protect, Prevent Skin Aging - 1 oz / 30 ml

The skin ceuticals vitamin c serum is universally respected by most all of the beauty experts.  People rave about it. Read and compare the ingredients to the one I am trying.  I thought I would try the less expensive version first.

I had acne prone skin for literally fifty years.  Yes, I was still getting the annoying pimple way into my fifties.  I never could use anything oily on my skin so I may be unique.  I still use the less expensive olay regenerist serum.  I have yet to find one that works better for me.  However, I am open to anything new.  Any suggestions?

I have yet to find a good foundation primer.  Maybe they aren’t necessary but I need all the help I can get these days.  I tried the highly rated smashbox photo finish foundation primer. They have a ton of different options.  Maybe I  didn’t try the best one for my skin type.  It felt like glue on my face and I just didn’t feel it gave me any benefits.  Any suggestions in this department?

On to foundation.  So many experts love the Perfection Lumiere Velvet by Chanel. I invested.  For me, it did not provide enough coverage for my acne pitted, wrinkled, over sun-exposed skin.  It goes on like velvet just like it says and probably works well for those with fewer problems.PERFECTION LUMIÈRE VELVET - Smooth-Effect Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen Foundation - Chanel

I reverted back to my old standby, It Cosmetics Illuminating CC Cream, which is much more reasonable and effective for my issues. It is $38 and has a bonus of a 50 sunscreen. I also like the illumination factor.

How about you do you? What products work for you? Do you have a better option for a foundation, cc, bb or whatever the heck we call them now! I have tried several concealers none of which seem all that great.  Believe it or not I don’t have discoloration under my eyes.  However when I stopped in at the Ulta in Paso Robles (there are some girls that know their stuff there) one of the girls I respect pointed me to the Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer.  She noted that it is also the best concealer ( in general) in her mind.  Hey this stuff is good! It is my new best friend. The first concealer that has worked for me.

Lastly, is mascara a problem for you guys or is it just me? Applying mascara without my glasses on is a challenge.  I feel like every one that I have tried comes out in “glops”.  I have tried the expensive ones and the inexpensive.  I am trying the Benefit Roller Lash currently. Of those I have tried it is my current best. FYI they have a small travel size.  You can try it and if you don’t like it you haven’t invested more $$$.

Inevitably I keep returning to good old Maybelline great lash.  It is cheap better than many I have found. What do you think?  Do you have a favorite that goes on without “glumping”?

That about sums up my new favorites.

Cindy, you look absolutely darling in that white shirt! Even with an impatient husband taking the photo… 🙂 Just like mine.
I definitely want to try that mascara ASAP.

I have been using the Vichy Mineral 89 as a moisturizer/serum. Like you, I had acne…and oily skin with those lovely pimples into my 50’s. Heavy creams are still too heavy! I agree about the Olay serum. It’s a keeper. My husband thinks I look 20 years younger than my age…it does help that he can’t see leaves on trees without his glasses. Think you look great in the white shirt.

    Hi Cindy,
I recently discovered lots of YouTube videos by Dominique Sachse (a lovely news anchor in Houston), & I have tried Too Faced Hangover Rx primer on her recommendation. I also bought Maybelline Master Prime, but haven’t tried it yet. Primer is new to me! Have used Bobbi Brown’s foundation stick for years, along with Maybelline Full ‘n Soft waterproof mascara – very happy with both of those products.
I enjoy reading your blog & seeing the fabulous outfits. Thank you!

      Hi Barb
Thanks so much for the recommendations. One of my readers (maybe you?) introduced me to Dominique Sasche. She is lovely and I too enjoy her videos. Please keep us posted on those primers. They are pretty new to me as well. Sadly too many years in the sun has left me with skin that needs a lot of help! Thanks so much for reading my blog and commenting!!

I love Benefit Roller Lash! I always buy the travel size as it is half the price of the full size and I don’t feel that i’m throwing out unused mascara when it dries out. IT CC cream is great, but the light is just a little too warm toned for me. I wish they made it in a larger color range. I haven’t tried the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation, but do like the blush.

I recently had a PCA (Personal Color Analysis) and am amazed at how wearing the right clothing and makeup colors can make such a big difference.

      Hi Kathy
I so agree with your comment regarding the mascara. I think more companies should do this. I love the tarte blush as well. I probably need to get my colors done again now that I am totally silver! Thanks for weighing in!!

Great blog and post. Need under eye ideas, thanks. I’ve been using foundation Tarte Amazonian Clay, with brush kit from qvc. Nice coverage. Lips, Revlon Coverstay Overtime stays on all day…literally tho I touch up after lunch. Pretty shirt, you look amazing.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Carol

Try the CC under eye concealer above. I think it is one of the best products I have tried. I don’t have the eye issue so I use it for a regular concealer. I need it for all of the age spots!! I am going to check out the Tarte and that brush kit. I used to use the Revlon Coverstay as well. I may have to revisit it again. Thank you so much for sharing your tips!!

      Hi Sylvia

So great to hear from you. I sent you a personal email but I will reply here as well. I use the light, but in the summer I blend the two. I think we have similar complexions so I hope that helps. Please let us know what works for you!

You might try Look Fabulous Forever (http://Lookfabulousforever.com) It’s based in the UK, started 5 years ago by a then-65 year old woman. I love the products, particularly the Face Primer, and I use all of the line now. One of the best parts is that there are comprehensive videos on You Tube, showing in great detail how to use the products on aging skin. I’ve watched all of them several times, and always come away with new and useful tips. No financial connection for me, I just love them a lot!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Margy

I am going to head over to fabulous forever and order that face primer! I don’t sleep well at night so I am going to check out the videos on my next sleepless night. Thank you so much for sharing what works for you! Best, Cindy
