Project Design-Gallery Wall Reveal

imageAs I mentioned in my previous post I actually did two gallery walls.  The one I call “the cheater”.  This is the one that I did about a month ago when I was afraid I would not have time to complete the one in the hallway.  This is the blank wall in the guest bedroom that I redid last year for the One Room Challenge Linking Party.

I found this darling portrait of this little boy and added antique and vintage items that I already had.

I am still not sure if I am on board with this one but my husband loves it.

The photo wall that I created in my hallway is very difficult to photograph since it is in a long, dark, narrow hallway.  Here is the wall before.  This hallway is twice this long and very narrow.  It needed something that filled up the space without making the already narrow hallway seem more narrow.

I purchased this mirror from Aaron brothers for $100 on sale.  I chose the mirror as the centerpiece of my gallery wall because it repeats the color of my wood floors and the trim on the windows on the main floor of the house.  This hallway is up the stairs but can be viewed from the two story entryway below.

Sadly all of the frames except the  tiny one  below the mirror which I ordered from my framer (Artistic Hangups) I already owned and were stashed away in a closet.
I used the mirror as my color and texture guide.  All of the frames repeat the hues in the mirror for continuity.

Here is the finished product.  I wish I could show you more.  I am really happy with the simplicity of the design. At the other end of the hall is a stack of boxes in various woods and colors that the same tones.

Stop over and see the other designer’s completed gallery walls. I know they are going to have some fabulous examples for us all to see.

Maryanne and I want to thank these amazing ladies for joining us in this little adventure.  We feel so fortunate to have had such a talented group! We are planning to do more of these small projects in the future.  We would love to hear from you.  Is there a particular design project that you find particularly challenging and would like help with?  Let us know in the comment section.

Cindy, what a beautiful hallway, narrow or not. Love the beams with corbels that make up for the narrowness of the space. Your photo gallery is perfect and how lovely it will be to enjoy your family photos every time you pass by. Congratulations!

I'm with Kris..can I just come shop your house?? Seriously, both walls are beautiful. I love the texture and depth of the first one, and I think your hallway one turned out wonderful with its personal photos and lovely frames – and that gorgeous mirror! It adds so much to that space. You don't know how much it meant to me to be included in this fun challenge. Thank you thank you thank you!!

    HI Cindy,
Both your walls look beautiful! I have been intrigued ever since I saw your instagram of the portrait of the little boy. I love the balance and the items that you chose to create your wall. In your entry, I love the lantern, the beams, the mirror and the frames all look beautiful together. Thank you Cindy for including me in this project!

I was so happy you and Mary Ann thought of this wonderful challenge. I love wall galleries and am always looking for inspiration. I certainly filled my file today! Both of your galleries are wonderful. I really like the painting of the little boy and the interesting assortment of items you used in that gallery. I also love the black and white gallery anchored with the great mirror.
    Wonderful.

    Hey Cindy,
Just as Loi just said, it gallery tells a story and that is one of the nicest things about them.
Of course you know I am partial to one of your family members, so I especially love the last photo showing off just how photogenic he is!

Good morning to my favorite frame hoarder! I need to show my hubby your hallway, see honey, there is something, SOMEDAY that I can do with all this stuff I keep bringing home. Your gallery walls are amazing, the one with little boy and the vintage finds make my heart sing. And the hallway looks warm and beautiful, love how that cool mirror inspired the color and tone of your frames. see? you didn't even need that old cheater wall. 🙂

It is amazing the difference, especially in the guest room. Just adore the warmth and personality it adds! We loved being a part…thank you so much for the invitation!!

Love that mirror and the symmetry and personal, happy feel of your photo wall…AND YOU KNOW, I love the gallery wall in your guest room (which I was so lucky to have stayed in…and to have enjoyed the colors and textures in person). You are so talented.

  14. Vel Criste says

I love both Cindy! I especially adore all the vintage baskets and items you added to the gallery wall in your guest room, very interesting! The hallway gallery wall is fab as well since all the frames ended up looking very similar because of the color scheme!

  15. SHERRY HART says

Man….over achiever…..2 gallery walls and both outstanding! I love them both Cindy…full of texture and all of those frames are gorgeous. Thanks to you and Mary Ann for my invitation to participate:)

  16. Kris @ Driven by Décor says

First of all, I want to come over to your house and raid your stash – if all of the vintage items you added to your first wall and frames for your second wall were things you already had, your house seems like a great place to shop! Both gallery walls you did are absolutely fantastic Cindy and I love how they both have a totally different feel. I just love your style and everything you do. Thanks so much to you and Mary Ann for putting this fun series together!
