#1 SOMETHING TALL
Start by choosing your tall item. The simplest tall objects to add height to your table styling are a lamp, an architectural item, or a large vase with tall greenery. Place in the center if it is going to be seen from all sides. Place towards the back or to one side if not.
Beth Webb never disappoints. Imagine this entry table in this entry with tall ceilings, without the oversized vases and greens?
#2 BOOKS (OLD OR NEW)
Books are great for using as bases or props. Isn’t the styling by Ryan Street here just beyond gorgeous. I absolutely adore the styling on this one.
#3 AN ARTIFACT
(something gathered from your travels or your own house)
Love this from metromode sE ,agreat mix of old and new
#4 SOMETHING TEXTURAL
Texture creates interest and depth. This design by Michael Smith is loaded with texture, from the table to the bust, and the rustic pottery pieces.
#5 A POP OF COLOR
(to draw your eye to the arrangement)
Love this design by the uber-talented Mark Sikes (photo by Joe Schmeizer. You can see Mark’s entire portfolio here.
#6 SOMETHING ORGANIC
A live plant, flowers, or greens
This pretty entry featured in Hamptons Cottages and Gardens brings the outdoors in. This is so inviting.
#7 SOMETHING VINTAGE
To create a collected personal look
This is the only image that appeared in my original post. Jeffrey Allen Marks almost always infuses a little vintage into his designs. I still love this entry design.

Beautiful inspiration. I have a long black console in my entry that I enjoy decorating but could certainly up my game with some of these ideas. Love your blog.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Carol
We all can use inspiration can’t we?

Loved all of them. But alas, I lead a casual lifestyle. The flowers speak to me and I have an affinity for blue and white. But the vignette that appealed to me most was #7 Something vintage. Give me old books , a table gushing with patina, and a to die for vase full of wildflowers picked from the side of the road.
Heaven.

Marcia you are a girl after my own heart!!

Hi Cindy – at the end of last week you had a link to a woman (Instagram account). I looked at her site and noticed she had some vintage bread boards (European I think) for sale. I somehow managed to not subscribe to her Instagram, don’t remember her name and now would love to have it so I can order one of the bread boards. Do you remember the one I’m referencing?
I loved this post – entryway tables. My designer encouraged me to put one in my entry that I would have imagined would be much too large and I love it. Just takes those little nudges.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Julane
I am guessing it was either Patine or Tancredi and Morgen in Carmel Valley. They are both friends and on Instagram. You will love them both.

Hi Cindy,
Such great examples of well-done round tabletop vignettes. This is good to know since I’ve always been challenged by round tables.
Congratulations on 10 years of inspiring blog posts.

Karen

Hi Karen
I agree round tables can be tricky! I am quite sure you can handle it!

I don’t have a round table in my entrance but I do have one in my dining area. This gives me some ideas for decorating it as it’s quite different then my previous long table. Pinning!
Cindy Hattersley says
I am so glad you found it helpful Joanna!

Our foyer is 12’ wide at the narrowest end near the front door. At the back it becomes 17’ wide and has a baby grand piano tucked in behind the stairs. I only place tall things at the center of my round table, usually my tall antique ginger jar, always fearing a running grandchild, or anyone really, will bump into it. I have tried to style it like that and always end up feeling it’s too precarious.
Cindy Hattersley says
Sounds like my house with a precarious 2 1/2 year old and two dogs tearing around!

Love, love! I have 2- 36″ round tables but no room for either in foyer. One is in a L.R. corner and one in bedroom as an end table, and I offset tall things as appropriate. Now I want a new cloth!! But help!! Who can constantly keep their houses filled with gorgeous fresh flowers and greens- especially if you have a black thumb (of course that’s not me-LOL) ?? What is your opinion of artificial greens and flowers and do you have a good source for pretty ones?? I look forward to your posts, and I keep and reread many. Thank you for the time and dedication you put into these!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Susan
Yes so true about the fresh flowers unless you live around the corner from TJ’s. In my opinion, Winward Silks has the best faux florals and greens, I am not sure where you can find them but I buy them wholesale. I don’t object to faux as long as it doesn’t look faux! I have a plant in my entry that I am actually keeping alive (stay tuned), but I do not have an indoor green thumb. I can also recommend SG Geneva. If you follow them on Instagram Debra has the best faux florals and I know she would send them to you. If you are in Illinois her shop is to die for!

YES, I love round tables as well! And yes, also our entrance hall is too small for one, unfortunately, because it creates such an interesting "welcome". Had several round tables, but sold them all….
NO, I do not found/find it difficult at all to "style" a round table, rather the opposite.
Lovely, inspiring and interesting images!
Warmest greetings from the Périgord,

p.s. Coming slowly but surely out from/off my 'winter hole', finished nearly our recent restoration work, sun is shining and garden crying! But will try to be back in the blog world a bit more often…..

One of my clients has a curved stairway, a round table is just what it needs, I've been waiting for one to appear on Craigslist! This is perfect inspiration for styling as soon as one shows up!

I love round entry tables and hope to have a house sometime in my life that has a big enough foyer to use one! The ones in your post are so beautifully styled!

Cindy, like so many of us, I have dreamed of a round table in my entry…but it is too small for such…I love all the examples you have shown here, and it only make me salivate even more!! I am thinking of perhaps doing a library table in an area of our family room, which might somehow resemble this look….love it though! N.xo

I've always wanted to have a house with an entryway/foyer large enough for such a beautiful table. I ended up with a foyer barely big enough for three pairs of shoes. I love all of these examples. You've got some great taste, ma'am.
I think the last photo belongs to Joan from For the Love of a House blog. I think it's her den/reading room.

I have always enjoyed the round entry table. I too have a small entry and can't have one. Perhaps that's why I'm constantly drawn to them….
