Hi everyone, Mary Ann, Annie, and I are decided to do our own tour this year with a focus on nature and natural elements and we invited a few of our talented blogging friends to join us. I prefer a natural look to my Christmas Decor but use a base of faux for practical reasons. Let’s take a look at how I create nature-inspired Christmas Decor in my Home. Let’s start at my entry.
NATURE INSPIRED ENTRY
I don’t change my decor a lot from year to year. I might change the ribbon or vary some of the elements, but that is about it. have an old traveling trunk in my entry. For the holidays I added a tray from Homegoods that I filled with belsnickels that I have collected over the years. I added a white poinsettia in an old pot.
On the stairwell, I have a faux garland from Park Hill Collection to which I have added faux twigs, faux white berries, and wide brown and white ribbon.
On the wall are my vintage french matted vintage prints.
To the right of the door is a bench with a vintage shelf above. I added a simple fresh wreath from home depot, and a bowl of faux greens and sugar pine cones.
NATURE INSPIRED DINING ROOM
To the left when you walk in the door is my dining room. Here I used 1 1/2 brown and white gros-grain ribbon on the chandelier and added fresh olive and foraged juniper. The sconces on the wall are accented with fresh greens and the vintage wide ribbon.
I filled the dough bowl with foraged juniper, olive branches and faux pears. I set the table with my glenna plates from Anthro, and I added spongeware salad plates from Tory Burch’s new collection. The goblets are from Target, the seagrass chargers are from Pier 1 years ago. All items or similar are linked below.
The hemstitch napkins are from Pottery Barn. I tied them up with some fresh olive, juniper, and brown and white grosgrain ribbon. The place cards were made on Canva.
Across from the table is an old french window that we made into a mirror. It is decorated with a simple faux wreath (Park Hill Collection) to which I added a few twigs of olive, and a ribbon. A tabletop little ollie stands guard in front of the mirror. The document box was an inheritance from my in-laws.
At the end of the dining room is an American blanket chest with one of my favorite paintings by Pat Huber Fine Art It is accented by some faux and real greens in an antique Romanian pot and a couple more belsnickels from my collection. You can find retired ones on Ebay here I have listed similar below.
NATURE INSPIRED FAMILY ROOM
In the family room, I have a faux wreath from Park Hill Collection. I added faux pears, berries, and the same wide brown and white ribbon. I described how I did it last year here. I have the wreath mounted on a pair of old cabinet doors. Last year I used the salmon side, this year the mustard.
The mantle is covered with mixed faux greens, pears, and pinecones. On the coffee table, I filled a large Romanian redware bow with candles and faux greens.
The tree also from Park Hill Collection, I borrowed from my son and daughter-in-law. We threw our tree away last year. It had seen better days. It is filled with ornaments we have collected over the years.
The packages under the tree are wrapped with a mixture of polka dots, matte gold, stripe and white. I designed the gift tags on Canva.
They are tied with a mix of the 5″ ribbon, brown double-faced satin, and polka dot ribbons. All or similar are linked below. I made the
Our antique rocking horse is decked out with a simple wreath from home depot and ribbon.

Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Lori
There is no template. I created them myself. I will try to get a tutorial up next week when things settle down!

Janet Arden says
Love this, but then I pretty much love everything you do.! Love the mix of real and faux and the candles. Have a great week!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Janet
Happy Holidays! Thank you so much for all your support. You make blogging worthwhile!!
Amber says
This is all so pretty. I love that you don’t change your decor from year to year. I don’t generally either. It just seems wasteful and not very special if every year you buy disposable stuff. I collect Christopher Radko ornaments and every year I’m excited to break them out. I buy 3 every year, one for me, and one for each of my kids. I label the boxes the ornaments come in with the year and the child’s name. When they grow up, they’ll have their own collection. Have a happy holiday season!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Amber
I feel like as a blogger I have to change it up a bit each year but in my case that involves changing the ribbon or simple things. I agree it is so wasteful and not in keeping with the holiday to buy a bunch of “stuff” every year. Christmas is all about bringing out our treasured ornaments every year. To me that is what it is all about.
Tamara Tennant says

Linda Ebright says
I’ve looked at a zillion Christmas tours this week and yours is my FAVORITE! I love all the natural elements and, seemingly, effortless style. Sadly, in Kansas, we have no pomegranate or bay trees to trim. But there are always cedar trees and other greens to forage. Right now I’m headed to basement to find my giant wooden bowl to fill with sugar pinecones and faux greens for my coffee table – just like your house.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Linda
Thank you so much. I wasn’t totally in the mood this year but put on my big boy pants for you guys! Once I get started I always enjoy it. I miss the greens that you have easy access to. We always want what we can’t have don’t we? Happy Holidays! Won’t we all be glad when this year draws to an end. At least we have our homes as havens! I am thankful for that.
Judy bell says
I love all your holiday decor, Cindy! You’ve inspired me.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Judy
Sometimes we just need a little nudge or just one new idea to inspire us. I am so glad you enjoyed it!
Linda Gardepe says
Your Christmas decor is just beautiful!
I do have 1 question, What and where is the Park Hill Collection?
Again, thank you for sharing your lovely home and Merry Christmas!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Linda
Park Hill is a wholesale business. I did notice that Target handles some of their stuff this year but it was sold out. Just type it in and you may be able to find some of their wares. They are a great company out of Kansas? Or somewhere in that area.
Annie Diamond says
Cindy! I could not love your Christmas decor more! It is so lovely and if I had not read the post and only looked at the photos, I would never imagine that any of the greenery is faux. You make everything look elegant, rustic, and simply beautiful all at the same time. I’m imagining you swooping through the garden, clipping away and arranging things in big bowls with greens and lemons. I can imagine how magical it looks at dusk with all the candles lit…your stairway is breathtaking! I’m sure you float down in a maxi skirt and a denim shirt to greet your guests with a glass of prosecco. I want to be on that guest list! xx
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Annie
I always say I wish I could be the me that you think I am! We are so lucky to have found each other via Mary Ann. You inspire me constantly with your less is more and your clever diy’s. Whenever I am decorating I say to myself…Annie would stop here…edit edit
Sandra Sallin says
Ha! Always love your looks. What most impressed me? You used faux pears. I bought a bunch of pears that are now rotten. How smart are you?? Or how dumb am I? I also love your gift tags. You’re a wonderful graphic designer. I always love what you come up with. Belsnickle? I still don’t know what it is? A cookie? Great looking.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Sandra
Belsnickels were/are German vintage and antique chalkware Santas. Mine are collectible but reproductions! I am all for faux if it looks real and you mix it with real. Faux faux not so much!!
Judie olivero says
ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY, GORGEOUS! I GOT SO BUZZED I HAD TO STOP LOOKING AND WALK AROUND MY HOUSE TO CALM MYSELF DOWN. THANK YOU FOR SHARING! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hi Claudia
Thank you so much. I appreciate the comment coming from the official tablescape guru! Thanks for joining us we always enjoy having you!
Mary Ann Pickett says
You knocked this out of the park, Cindy!!! I didn’t know those little Santas were called Belsnickels! Always learning from you. Loving all the ribbons and how you incorporated fresh olive branches. I wish I could visit in person!
Cindy Hattersley says
I wish you could to! Sounds like we are headed for a modified lockdown again. At least small businesses will not be closed this time and it sounds like construction etc can continue. Those santas are copies of the old german belsnickels. That is why they are called that. Your apartment looks the prettiest it ever has and that is hard to do!
Dora Renata Pala says
ARRIVEDERCI
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Dora
It never snows here, well I should say twice in 40 years we have had a dusting of snow. If we miss it we could head to Lake Tahoe or the mountains. I miss the fall more than anything. I am heading to instagram to see your pic. Happy Holidays!
LA CONTESSA says
Gosh I recall when that PARK HILL COLLECTION hit the GIFT SHOWS!THEY were a welcome ADDITION!I bought from them for my little HEN HOUSE SHOP!Now what is this word? “Belsnickels “I have NEVER HEARD THAT BEFORE!!!IS THAT AN INDIANA TERM?
I will give you another word for those little holes in your napkins……they are called FAGOTING!
embroidery in which threads are fastened together in bundles.
“a black silk dress with tiers of fagoting”
HAVE YOU HEARD THAT WORD BEFORE?
OFF TO SEE THE OTHERS…………….LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE READY!EVEN GIFTS WRAPPED!!!!
I AM IMPRESSED………DO YOU EVER SLEEP?!!
XX
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Elizabeth
I have heard of faggotting absolutely. They usually use the term hemstetching when referring to napkins. I have several different colors of that same napkin. Love the simplicity. Belsnickel is German definitely not a hoosier term. The antique santas that these replicate originally hailed from Germany. I sleep (sometimes) ha ha
Kelley & Co says
So pretty and natural. What a perfect theme for this year especially. It’s probably a little more difficult this year with the house listed but think of the fun you will have when you pull out all the decorations in your new home! xxoo Kelley
